The Minister of Information on Friday allowed the return of VOA Khmer to radio broadcasting via Women’s Media Centre FM102 and FM103.50MHz following its suspension in 2017 for failing to complete the requirements for its legal registration at the Ministry of Information. Information Ministry spokesman Meas Sophorn said the radio station’s return was greenlit after it fulfilled requirements issued by the ministry and registered its name with the ministry. With the broadcasting network’s adherence, Mr Sophorn said Khmer VOA now has the right to distribute information and news across Cambodia just like other media platforms.

VOA Khmer’s return was welcomed by Mr Sophon who said media outlets in Cambodia play a critical role in informing the people alongside the government. In a statement issued Friday, the Ministry of Information said: “The return of VOA Khmer programming via FM 103.50MHz will be broadcast in Phnom Penh and the provinces of Battambang, Kampong Cham and Siem Reap from the release of this letter onward.”
