Some 111 hospitals have delivered drugs by mail to tens of thousands of patients under Thailand Post’s “Drug Delivery Project to Patients by Mail” campaign, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) said today (May 19).

The three-month NHSO project, which was to end on June 30, has received such a good response that it has been extended until September 30. The office will now discuss the extension with Thailand Post.

The NHSO has collaborated with Thailand Post to carry out the project to deliver medicines by mail to patients under Universal Health Coverage since April 8 to reduce congestion in hospitals and control the spread of Covid-19, NHSO secretary-general Dr Sakchai Kanjanawatana said.

“The project has received good feedback, with 398 hospitals showing their desire to participate. Of these, 111 hospitals have delivered 27,992 medicines to patients by mail, with a delivery cost of Bt1,399,600,” he said

Providing a break-up, he said medicines were delivered 7,128 times for hypertension, 4,838 times for diabetes, 792 for HIV infection, 743 for asthma, 629 for chronic obstructive bronchitis/emphysema, 446 for glaucoma, 357 for attention deficit hyperactivity, 329 for benign prostatic hyperplasia, 315 for epilepsy and 305 for non-insulin dependent diabetes.

Seems like a good idea but are they dispensing with the 3 monthly doctor check-ups?

I go every 3 months, see the doctor, collect my drugs.

Have they stopped pretending you need to see the doctor ..... or what?
