Thank you. That was impressive, actually. But again, how does one become a moderator (if the question isn't indiscreet)?

Admin decide, if the moderator team believe a certain member would make a good moderator a topic is raised in the moderators private forum and the candidate discussed... but ultimately Admin decide

First of all, an independent daemon keeps track of database of Thaivisa usage by each user with over 100 posts. It compares the total number of public messages ever posted with the number read by the user. If the percentage is over 99.9%, that user's name is added to a special, secret list. The users on this list are able to view a new forum, called "The Gold Room."

In this room there are a number of tasks and challenges, which are adapted to various different personality types. From the moment a user on the list enters the room, his behavior is carefully studied by one of the on-duty mods at the time, who may also change, decrease, or increase the difficulty level or type of tasks available. For example, a user may be tasked with following several known trolls around the forum and "reporting" each and every one of their posts for a period of time, or requested to PM a particular mod each time spam is posted to the forum. Greater challenges include tricking a supposed member into revealing his troll or banned status, or contradicting the last post in each and every one of a certain category of cranky topics.

When a certain number of task points are earned, the user is awarded an invisible gold star in his navel (there are various medicaments available in case of itching), and also a special gold aura appears around his name which only mods can see. When the need arises to appoint a new mod in the fullness of time, these individuals form the candidate pool from which a small number are chosen, to accomplish a great final task, such as slaying the dragon or retrieving the golden fleece....

Should they pass this test, they will have qualified themselves to become a mod- if admin agree... :D:o

I have been contacted about becoming a moderator repeatedly, but I keep telling The Donz that I'm just not interested! :o

What advantages are there, if any, of being a moderator ? Also there must by now be a standard accepted ratio of required moderators to forum usage, or is there?
