Ds-extreme Card For Nintendo Ds

Featured Replies

Just wondering if it's worth purchasing one of the "supercards" for my DS lite system.

DS extreme card

Has anyone had any experience with these cards....anyone recommend a certain type?

Any info would be great.

PM me if you know where to find the stuff to put on the card.

Thanks.

Have a look at this look for the R4 think thats what your looking for! alot cheaper than what your looking at. Ask the shop about supplying software for it...

also alot of this kinda stuff at the MBK center

can't say much more

The R4 is the standard. It's what I'm using. It's pretty good, in that it's cheap and easy to use. The only downside is that you can't play Gameboy Advance files on it, but I don't care for those games.

BTW, you can get the memory for much cheaper at the IT stores (the game shop asked around 900 baht for 1GB, the IT place charged 370 baht). You don't need to buy it at the shop. The downside is that the game shop won't fill it up with games for you. Wasn't a problem for me since I could easily find roms for the NDS.

The DS- extreme card doesn't require any other stuff (software, cardreader, etc.)

Do you think it's worth the price for ease of use?

It has that built in usb connection as well.....just hook it up and drag and drop whatever you want....MP3's, e-books, video, ROMS, Homebrew etc.

Do the pro's outweigh the cons as far as function vs price?

The DS extreme is considered way too pricey for what you get. You basically get the same thing as the R4, except that you now connect with a USB cable, and the 2GB memory is built-in. For that, you pay around 5,000 baht. You cannot expand/change the memory in the future.

The R4 costs around 1,400 baht. A 1GB memory card costs 370 baht, a 2GB card costs around 800 baht. You get a memory reader with the R4, and no, you DON'T need any extra software. Any ROMs and MP3's, JPGs can be copied directly to the memory card via the memory reader. Movies need to be converted to DGP first (same as DS extreme). You can buy as many memory cards as you want.

So, basically the DS extreme is an R4 with built-in memory and USB port. It's not worth the extreme price premium.
