Crime Man 64, Found Stabbed to Death in Surat Thani Home – Brother-in-Law Under Suspicion
Picture courtesy of Matichon. A 64-year-old man has been found dead with multiple stab wounds inside a terraced house in Surat Thani province, prompting a murder investigation in which the victim’s brother-in-law has become a key person of interest. The incident took place around 21:30 on 14 June in Moo 3, Bang Sawang subdistrict, in Phra Saeng district. Police Lieutenant Narintorn Rodchu of Bang Sawang Police Station received a report of a suspected homicide and responded to the scene along with forensic officers, medics from Phra Saeng Hospital, and local rescue volunteers. The victim, identified as Mr Sujin Srisuk, 64, a resident of Moo 4 in the same district, was discovered lying face-up in the middle of the house. He had suffered a stab wound to the chest and a deep laceration to the head, believed to have been caused by a large bladed weapon. A screwdriver and his shoulder bag were found next to his body. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr Sujin had been living with two other men, one of whom was his wife’s brother-in-law. The brother-in-law recounted, he had left the house to work a night shift as a security guard at a nearby palm plantation. Upon returning, he claimed to have found Mr Sujin already dead and contacted the police. However, inconsistencies in his statements raised suspicions. In the initial account, he claimed to have returned home from work and discovered the body upon entering the house. Yet during further questioning, he contradicted himself, stating that he had actually been inside his bedroom and only discovered the body when he stepped out into the main living area. Police noted further suspicious behaviour, including bloodstains on the man’s footwear, which he claimed occurred after walking through the scene while going to seek help from neighbours. Due to these discrepancies, officers have taken the brother-in-law in for further questioning at Bang Sawang Police Station. He has not yet been formally charged, but police are treating him as a primary suspect while continuing their investigation. Authorities have pledged to pursue all leads to ensure justice for the victim, as forensic evidence and witness statements are reviewed. Adapted by Asean Now from Matichon 2025-06-16 -

Community Three-Metre Python Surprises Homeowner in Sattahip
Picture courtesy of Daily News. A woman in Sattahip received a shock early morning on 15 June, when she opened her front door and came face-to-face with a massive python lying just outside. The unexpected visitor has since sparked a frenzy among local lottery enthusiasts, who believe the snake’s appearance is a sign of impending good fortune. Rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanathammasathan Sattahip Foundation responded to a call from Ms. Vanida Thanamong, 58, the owner of the house located at 108/18, Amarin Village, Soi 3, Sattahip Subdistrict, Chonburi Province. Upon arrival, two rescue officers found a reticulated python measuring over three metres in length, had moved and was coiled motionless on a wall just three metres from the house entrance. Using a standard snake-catching pole with a loop, rescuers initially secured the snake by the head with ease. However, as the reptile woke, it began to struggle violently and broke free, slithering up onto the roof. After a brief pursuit involving climbing onto the roof, the team successfully recaptured the snake without injury. Ms. Vanida recounted the moment: “I opened the door to leave for work and was shocked to see this enormous snake lying there. I was absolutely terrified.” She further revealed that this wasn’t the first time she had seen the snake, believing it to be the same one that had entered her home on two previous occasions. However, in both earlier incidents, the reptile mysteriously disappeared before it could be located by rescuers. Given that the incident occurred so close to the next lottery draw on 16 June, Ms. Vanida now believes the python may be a bearer of luck. “It’s the third time this snake has shown up, and now it’s finally allowed itself to be caught. I think it’s trying to bring me good fortune,” she said, adding that she intends to play her house number, 108/18, in the lottery. Rescue worker Mr. Wicha Jindanin, radio call sign 142, confirmed that he had previously visited the home twice in response to snake sightings, but the creature had vanished both times. “We’re sure it’s the same python. Why it was lying there calmly this time, we can’t explain, but it certainly gave us a bit of a chase once it woke up,” he remarked. The python was later released into a safe, forested area, far from residential properties. As the story spreads across social media and local news, many were eyeing the number 10818 as a potential lucky pick, yet another example of how unexpected wildlife encounters continue to inspire belief in omens and fortune in Thai culture.
