In line with the third phase of easing measures, health officials have issued guidelines for movie theatres and fitness centres to follow.

Meanwhile, Dr Panpimol Wipulakorn, director general of the Public Health Ministry’s Department of Health, told the press that the number of people wearing face masks and following preventive measures was constantly dropping.

A survey found that most of the respondents, or 57.4 per cent, admitted to dropping their guard because the number of new infections had dropped, 36.6 per cent considered themselves as low risk, while 28.4 per cent found the measures inconvenient.

Panpimol, however, warned people to continue protecting themselves because the pandemic has not been wiped out yet.

Meanwhile, she said, movie theatres will have to clean their premises before opening and between every show, provide hand-sanitising gel, ensure every audience member and staff member are wearing face masks at all times, the number of moviegoers is limited, people are seated at least one metre apart and all visitors check in via the ThaiChana platform.

Cinemas are also required to screen every moviegoer’s temperature, prohibited from holding concerts or other events, seat people two seats apart and allow for more ventilation to prevent the virus from spreading.

As for gyms, customers and trainers are required to wear a mask at all times except when doing heavy exercise, machines have to be placed one to two metres apart, workout areas need to be cleaned every two hours and all gym members and staff need to check-in via ThaiChana.

If a gym was able to have machines two meters apart they would be already. Most have limited space in Bangkok so again this is stupid. A bunch of healthy people at a gym with no corona virus don’t need such requirements. In a few more weeks it’s phase four. All this stupid nonsense is making not only Thais but everyone else sick and tired of it. Keep gramma and grandpa out of the gyms for now that’s all that is needed.  If you don’t like it stay home under your bed being scared.
Then there is going  to the movies wearing a mask the whole time!! LOL.

"...people are seated at least one metre apart..."

So no more "love seat" / "couples sofa" at cinemas, for the time being?  Can't even sit next to your date in a standard seat?

"...ensure every audience member...wearing face masks at all times..."

What about eating popcorn or having a drink?  Surely, constantly pulling down one's mask then putting it back in place will be annoying.

Age check at the door? ????

Unfortunately farang granpa is a significant percentage of gym go-ers in Pattaya who can afford longer-term contracts.

Thats why there will likely be no food or drink allowed. Trust, they will get round to advising the regulations.

Maybe no option but to go and find out.

The idea of an exemption for those doing "heavy exercise" at the gym is awesome.   Pretty much everyone is excluded from wearing a mask except those that go there just to upload pics to Instagram.
