Meds for HIV

Featured Replies

A man coming from the UK to stay here for 1 year

wants to know can he buy the antiretroviral medication

from a pharmacy or must he buy it through a hospital?

Nevirapine 400mg

Emtricitabine 200mg

Tenofovir 245mg.

Many thanks.

She who knows everything worked in a hospital many years and is of the opinion that meds are handled by hospital prescriptions and follow up blood tests are taken regularly. But things may have changed since her day. Says antiretroviral meds are available in most or all Thai hospitals, doesn’t know about pharmacy supply.

Cannot get at a pharmacy. Hospital or clinic. The Thai Red Cross Anonymous Clinic in Bangkok has best prices. No problem for the 3 drugs mentioned and you will find indicative prices here

Also need to consider the cost of lab work e.g. VL.

Unless he is coming for work in which case he will be covered by Thai SS scheme, a main concern is non-HIV health care needs in case of accident etc since he will nto be able to get private insurance.
