Prayut urges Thais to stay united, promises to give people a say in policy-making

PM Prayut Chan-o-cha

The government will change the way it works in the new normal by getting more sectors to participate in determining Thailand’s future, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha promised in a televised address today (June 17).

As for the pandemic, he said, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel, because though the country has yet to win the battle completely, the situation is under control.

However, he said, the biggest challenge was bringing life back to normal, the way it was before Covid-19 hit the country.

He also commended people for standing united during this time of crisis and asked why people waste time playing political games instead of staying united so the country can move forward.

He said that since the world was entering the “new normal”, his administration will adapt to the change by giving people a chance to have a say in the policy-making process. He said from now on, Thai citizens will not just learn about policies from newspapers or social media but will be able to contribute as his government will stop to listen to their voices.

He added that next week he will ask all sectors to present their vision on what changes are necessary to move forward for a better future of Thailand.

He also promised that people who are directly affected by government policies will be given a chance to evaluate the government’s work, which will give state agencies a chance to see if working together results in the mutual benefits that were intended. He said people can submit their opinions with high-ranking government officials.

He added that the aim is for the government to work proactively to better serve the people.

Prayut went on to say that these changes are bound to draw opposition and criticism, but said he was ready to listen to different opinions.

He also invited every citizen to do their part by joining the mission of “Thais unite together to build the nation”.

Oh, I don't know, he's probably not the worst you could get. He doesn't have a lot of room for manoeuvre. He's balancing various factions. Guess he has the country's best interest at heart, at least in his view. The problem is that once you take the reins off you risk anarchy. Social stability is key. A sort of Chinese centric view of things. If you read Chinese history you understand why the Chinese are so afraid, not that I'm an expert, but I did read about the Taiping rebellion, dead ranged from 10 to 30 million.

The man is infuriating.  It shouldn't be a promise.  It should be a right.  The Democratic soldier is a non debating, cowardly, walking cliche and contradiction in terms.    The country's young must have collectively lost hundred's of millions of IQ points because of this man.  He promises.  Vietnam and Taiwan deliver.

He has done nothing but create fear.  He himself will not debate, or can't.  That is not a good role model for a nation that thinks it wants a participatory government.

Yes, Mao roughly said the same thing when he wanted to root out those who opposed him.

What are the chances that would include free, democratic elections??? Nah, that could be too much to ask!

Another BS speech from the dictator. When has he ever kept a promise to the Thai people, apart from his rich cronies. He asked why people play political games ? He is the expert at that, been doing it ever since the coup. Nobody with any sense believes any of his <deleted> talk.

All hail our one and only Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha …a perfect being…one without peer…who sees every aspect of the universe with celestial clarity and remains unblemished and unhindered by any human limitations.

At this transcendental moment in Thailand’s emergence as the pre-eminent and most trusted nation of the world, all the Thai people are filled to overflowing with unparalleled reverence and limitless love for the enlightened, pious, virtuous, and divine Supreme Leader.

The nation rallies around the Hero General as he unites the people into a powerful and unstoppable force building the only true paradise on earth. Under his wise and benevolent guidance every corner of the country rings with happiness as the people joyously worship him and march together to a future brighter than the light of a thousand suns.

Didn't he say that and 110% under control before, then it went booooom

Meanwhile his own parties are divided and playing political games. Why not call them out and just the ordinary people.. I guess we know why one rule for those and an other for the "people"

"...why people waste time playing political games instead of..."

I wonder if he has told Prawit and PPRP members about this as I am sure the resuffling of that house of cards is the very definition of a 'political game'; a game in which I would hasten to add, Prayut is both manager and referee of.  - Hypocrisy or Irony or both? You decide.

Good work from Khun Prayut Chan O Cha and his government, his concern is getting Thailand and the tourism industry back on it's feet as soon as possible.

He will listen to the Thai people and review their comments and suggestions. He has done an excellent job with the covid19 pandemic and continues to work hard to push Thailand forward.

He realizes that job are needed and that is why project after project is being implemented.

good job by Khun Prayut ...

From now on? Shouldn’t this have been the case back when people were actually voting and you took ages to count the votes and decided to change the format? Are you saying that you’re gonna stop cheating & abusing people’s basic human rights now?

to be too good to be true...  unbelievable statements until real action follows. but since thailand is located in a subtropical area of the earth, it is reasonable to assume that this message could only be hot air.
