Tounge Thaied
I know many of you will certainly share YOUR clairvoyance on this... please do. Looking into MY crystal ball... . To me it is looking like those with work permits, working professionals, people attending international business meetings (business in general), and medical seekers, will get a 14 day quarantine and are going to be the first let back in... July/August. I'm seeing, now that "travel bubbles" will start to emerge in late August and will be from the southeast/asian countries and maybe a few middle east, this time period could begin to see others like the PR (permanent residence) holders allowed next. Beyond that it is anyone's guess and will likely be determined on the continued assessments of the Covid numbers. If the numbers stay stable and do not increase significantly, I will speculate the best case scenario will be September for the myriad of Non-immigrant O (other) visa qualifiers, those that qualify for marriage and retirement visas, Thai Elite VISA holders etc., then tourists in October. Maybe it's time to book that long overdue dental appointment? Tells you a lot about Thai motivations for letting people back in, business interests first, then those with cash for things like "MT" medical tourist. Those being let in first are clear financial motives. And has been publicly stated elsewhere that wealthy tourists (quality not quantity) maybe the next tourism scheme to success moving forward? To be expected I guess? When do you think you will be able to return?https://www.thairath.co.th/news/business/1870607 Edited June 21, 2020 by Tounge Thaied grammar

Popular Post mstevens
I think it will be possible to visit Thailand later this year IF you test negative for Covid-19 before leaving your home country AND also test negative in Thailand on arrival / or are willing go in to quarantine. In other words, it will be possible to visit but I think it will be a convoluted process that will put most of us off. As for restriction-free travel to Thailand without the need to test or quarantine, I don't think that will be this year. 2

Popular Post KhaoYai
I will be able to go back to Thailand when they end the quarantine requirement. I work in the UK but my wife and home are in Thailand. I normally go home every 8 weeks for 2 weeks. It is not possible for me to take more than 2 weeks off work at a time and it would be pointless spending that time in quarantine. Then there's the cost - around 45,000 for an ASQ hotel + testing +++. I'm getting quite high quotes for the $100,000 US health insurance etc. etc. - all these things make trips home impossible. I can't pay that much everytime I travel and in any case, that money would be better spent on my wife/family. For now, the decision has been made that my wife will visit me. As far as I know she will have to do 2 weeks quarantine when she goes back to Thailand but that will be free. I wonder if they will honour that for people that have left Thailand intentionally? The recent announcements that those married to a Thai, those with PR and those with work permits will be allowed back are good news for them but totally useless for me and thousands of others. At one point I thought it would be September before I'm allowed back - now I doubt it will be this year. I have to believe that as we get into July and August, some more definitive rules will shake out. I was looking at October.

I was paying $700.00 for the year with an IMG policy that excluded the U.S. It was a high deductible ($5000.00) policy that I had simply as a "catastrophic" plan, as I am very healthy and don't use insurance. That policy ended in April. I suspect it will be similar in price should I re-instate the same plan. I haven't re-contacted them yet, so no idea if there are any changes due to the Covid situation. joecoolfrog
When will I go back to Thailand , when they make it convenient for me to do so. As a tourist I will spend my holiday pennies where I will be most comfortable , if I go away in Jan I think Vietnam will perhaps be a more likely destination than Thailand.

Popular Post poohy
Another way to look at it is some like me are effectively trapped here I live 9 months ish a year here house, wife dogs etc used to work here and been here 21 year, now semi retired i certainly dont work in Thailand Flights out ARE NOT a problem have flight to UK for family business/holiday originally April now in Sept BUT as there is no clear return policy or one that is so convoluted/expensive to make it near impossible so any travel is a lottery How long can you keep putting of a 98 year old father as well as changing flights

CLS
To make your way into Thailand you should first get in touch with your local Thai embassy. Requirements for WP holders are here: https://www.intellasia.net/thailand-lists-5-star-quarantine-hotels-to-accommodate-big-spenders-787063 Be prepared for a bumpy and expensive journey.
KhaoYai
1 hour ago, stubuzz said: What have you been quoted? At the moment around £1000 has been the cheapest - that may not seem so expensive but the (deductable) is quite high and its also an expense I had not planned for. At the moment it seems the only insurance available is long term health insurance that includes Covid insurance. Many of the companies only offer such insurance to those living in Thailand for at least 183 days per year. Travel insurance that includes cover for Covid 19 may be cheaper but its normally only available in the applicant's home country. At the moment, unsurprisingly such cover does not seem to be available. Most UK insurers specifically exclude Covid and policies have a clause that states that cover is subject to the UK government's travel advice. For almost all countries that advice is currently against all but essential travel so the clause kicks in. I continue to look for insurance but not so intensely because the quarantine requirement is a killer for me - the insurance issue just makes it moreso.

I believe that was issued before those married to a Thai national and those with PR were added to the eligible categories. As far as I know, for those married section 2 is changed from Work Permit to Copy of Marriage Certificate/Registration + Copy of spouse's Passport/ID Card and I would imagine that those with PR would simply provide a copy of their PR book.
