A Thai doctor went on Facebook to warn people who wear dentures to go to their dentist if they become loose or damaged.

Dr Arak Wongworachat of Sichon Hospital in Thailand's south went on Facebook to relate what happened to an 80 year old grandmother who thought her last day had come.

Gran had just had breakfast and after letting her food go down she prepared to take her medications for an existing condition.

As she threw her head back to swallow her meds her upper denture went down her throat too and got lodged in her esophagus.

Struggling to breathe her relatives rushed her to hospital for emergency surgery.

It was successful and after a three day stay she was allowed home.

And told to seek professional advice about those loose false teeth.

Reminds me of the joke concerning a man who accidentally swallowed his glass eye. Embarrassed the man told his doctor only that he was suffering abdominal pain. The doctor performed a colonoscopy, peered into the instrument eyepiece then said to his patient 'Mr Smith, you have to learn to trust me'......

this could easily become a new

(I get in trouble 'regularly' at the dinner table - as I can drop mine about 20 degrees, with a mere invisible flick of the tongue - good party trick to scare the Nieces! )
