Mystery surrounds Austrian death on Jomtien Beach.

Police from Dongtan Police Sub-Station based on Jomtien Beach were alerted to a fatality which occurred only meters from the Police Station. The alarm was raised by Khun Natashar aged 17, the step-daughter of the victim, Mr. Helmut Hongs aged 67 from Austria.

Khun Natashar explained that she would take her step-father to this particular beach every morning and would collect him in the evening. She explained that Mr. Hongs resides in Central Pattaya and has lived in Pattaya for some time.

Passers-by spotted the man lying face-down near the shoreline. Attempts at resuscitation failed and the body was taken to the Morgue where a post mortem examination will take place. For now the cause of death is unknown, however Police suspect natural causes. The Austrian Embassy in Bangkok has been informed.
