The UK has released the following list of countries it will accept travellers from without the requirement of serving a compulsory 14 day quarantine. Most of these countries have a significantly poorer record of CV19 control than Thailand, but Thailand does not make the list. I can only assume that either the UK does not trust Thailand's reporting or maybe its a retaliatory move for Thailand's draconian entry requirements for UK nationals.

Maybe a bit of both!

UK has also left Cambodia off and they are employing similar silly rules and exemptions

I don't want really to have an online pointless argument with anybody, but both Thailand and Cambodia tracking and testing of the virus leave a lot to be desired.

Europe has accepted, based on science, that this disease can be contained and controlled but at this stage, not eradicated.

Thailand and Cambodia whilst bitterly complaining  about economic climate and conditions are doing nothing of consequence to improve the situation at the moment.

Vietnam is already getting their economy moving and I spoke to friends last week in Danang and they said " What lockdown! " everything is as was before.

I am hearing they will shortly be allowing a lot more free movement to the country.

Vietnam has a proven strategy and track record of dealing with these viruses going back to SARS and others.
