Government Urges People Not to Lower Guard

BANGKOK, July 11 (TNA) -- The government asked people not to lower their guard against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a survey showed they compromised their protection.

Deputy government spokesperson Traisulee Traisoranakul said the Public Health Ministry found from its survey that people were worried about the possible second spread of COVID-19 but believed that the government would contain it. The survey also found that people were less serious about protecting themselves from possible infection.

Although the local COVID-19 situation improved, the pandemic remained critical in many other countries. Unless people seriously protected themselves, the second spread of COVID-19 could happen in the country and have impacts in many dimensions, Ms Traisulee said.

yes, he's done an exceptional job in the prevention of an escalation of the virus. Credit due. obviously he placed his mask on his chin to talk to someone outside.

  • With this man in charge of YOUR health, what could possibly go wrong? ????????

  • And you have decades of experience in virology? Of course it is not at the level of those who must work in direct contact with known virus carriers. Do you dress like pro stock car driver and have all

But it’s OK for the likes of the BTS to urge people to lower their guard by cramming them in like sardines.

A hopeless task I've signed on for is attempting to tell people that putting mask on chin temporarily is INSANE.

IF the virus is about, it will get all over you: it is more like spray paint than smart missiles. It will land on your chin, among other places.

So you mop up the virus off your chin and then suck it in through your nose and/or mouth.

Think a bit people. IF there is no virus around, then it won't matter. I don't trust the government figures with my life. If I am wrong and there is no virus here, I will suffer slight inconvenience of wearing a mask. If I am right that there is more than they admit, then maybe, just maybe, that inconvenience of a mask will be worth avoiding a ventilator and all that

MRT is looking the same.  Spent yesterday walking to where we needed to go instead of public transport, and of course very few folks out and about wearing masks as well.  No social distance in the restaurants we walked by, a 4 person table was jammed with 6 people, and the bars near us are also filled with no room once again. I had to rebook a flight to Phuket because Air Asia canceled the flight due to Covid they claimed, so instead I booked with my flight on Bangkok airways, when it came to seat selection it looks like all seats are being used without any social distance seating.

Do you believe a mask stops this? N95 masks are designed to make exhalation easy as they are designed for breathing "in" contaminated air. The particle size of "virus passes straight through! Guess if you want to kid yourself that what you can't see wont effect you, your either kidding yourself or listening to BS.

Have not observed it to look like that in several months, my daily PM 2.5 has been either 10 or 15 outside.  In the house its at 1.  Lumpini park also has a trailer indicating the air quality and I have not observed it above 15 as well when I run in the morning or later in the evening at 6 pm when the traffic is the worst.  The photo I posted is from this past Tuesday when we had a break in the cloudy weather. The next one was from this morning

Wearing a mask works better than not wearing one.

Actually, the BTS for some time now has been running recorded audio announcements at stations telling passengers that if the trains are crowded, they should wait for the next train. (Which probably doesn't accomplish much, because if one train is crowded, the next one probably will be as well... but that aside...)

In addition to pretty strictly requiring facemasks for anyone to ride on BTS, and temperature checking everyone coming into their system as well.  All in all, at least recently, they've been more proactive than most within the constraints of operating a mass transit system.

N95 masks WITHOUT exhalation valves, if worn properly, would work just as well at keeping viruses inside the mask as they would keeping viruses outside from coming in.

It's the N95 masks WITH exhalation (comfort) valves that allow the opportunity for unfiltered air to be exhaled out from the mask.

That said, I don't see anyone in the general public out and around BKK wearing N95 masks these days. They've long been pretty much unavailable to the general public, and the Thais seem to have settled on either paper hospital type masks or reusable-cloth ones, which have far less filtering capability either inbound or outbound.

Sure? or false sense of security, most are wearing "face masks" that are worthless, gives the mask Police a sense of purpose ????

Did you ever try to use N95 masks for a longer time especially if they don't have a valve. From my experience a torture.

I wear one whenever I go outside where where I'm going to be around others. Actually, I've worn and do wear both. I think a lot depends on the actual design of the mask. IME, the 3M VFlex style, which have no valve and used to be easily and cheaply available here, are pretty comfortable to wear, even here. Other styles, not so much.

I don't know, and your post doesn't say, what you're quoting from. The N95 masks are only designed to filter up to 95% down to 0.3 micrograms.

As for the sizing, yes, the virus particles themselves are small.. But at least in the case of people coughing or sneezing, etc, those particles aren't just the virus in the air solo but instead within large particles of mucus that the mask should filter.

The latest issue about aerosolized spread and transmission of the virus is probably a greater challenge in terms of mask wear. All I know on that point right now is, when hospital staff right now are doing procedures like intubation where aerosols may/will result, they're wearing N95 masks for protection, if they can obtain them.

At some point, you can only do the best you can do, which also includes social distancing, which is easier and safer for the general public vs. medical workers because the general public doesn't have to be coming into direct close contact with confirmed CV cases on a daily basis.

For the general public, while not a 100% guarantee, wearing an N95 (or N100) mask combined with social distancing is probably about the best possible protection anyone can arrange -- short of remaining in 100% isolation, which is pretty impractical.

If you have some better suggestion for people to protect themselves from the CV, I'm sure we'd all like to hear it.

Obviously that is not the same outfit they did wear afterwards, when they did go to the wet market...

USA Today recently had an article that debunked the claim mask opponents have been making that the virus is too small to be blocked by N95 masks.

Quote

“There is never a naked virus floating in the air or released by people,” said Linsey Marr, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Tech who specializes in airborne transmission of viruses.

The virus attaches to water droplets or aerosols (i.e. really small droplets) that are generated by breathing, talking, coughing, etc. These consist of water, mucus protein and other biological material and are all larger than 1 micron.

“Breathing and talking generate particles around 1 micron in size, which will be collected by N95 respirator filters with very high efficiency,” said Lisa Brosseau, a retired professor of environmental and occupational health sciences who spent her career researching respiratory protection.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/06/11/fact-check-n-95-filters-not-too-large-stop-covid-19-particles/5343537002/

And, the scientists go on in the same article to note an interesting fact... that the N95 masks are actually MORE effective at filtering the VERY tiny particles like viruses than they are at those around the 0.3 microns size for several reasons... including one because the masks use electrostatic attraction, in addition to simple filtering, to capture those tiny particles.

Thank you for asking :) (my quotes are from technical data sheets, sure you will be able to find once you have waded through all the CV 19 domination!in the searches)

eat healthy, supplement with Vit C, zinc and selenium, for some reason the media doesn't push this fact, instead focusing on masks!

In fact, anything that suggests treatment other than what "WHO" recommend is banned in the MSM.

Wonder why that is?

Indeed ????

The level of obedient conformism is even worse than I suspected, even here on TVF.

The transition into a PRC-style surveillance and control society is going to be surprisingly easy for them with good citizens such as yourself so willing and ready to conform. ????

Another day, another urge, said the boy to the wolf.
