Three killed as speeding car rams electric pole

Three were people were killed and one person seriously injured when a speeding car crashed into an electricity post before dawn on Sunday (July 12) in the Bang Phlat district of Bangkok.

Police suspect a combination of slippery road and speeding caused the accident in which bodies of two of the dead persons as well as the injured person flew out of the car.

Police found the wrecked car's roof was ripped open and the body of one deceased person  stuck in the driving seat. Rescue volunteers had to cut open the metal to take the body out while the bodies of the other two deceased -- a man and a women -- were found lying far away from the car.

The survivor, a male, who also flew out of the car was lying on the ground unconscious. He is suspected to have had a seizure due to the shock of the incident. He was sent to Vajira Hospital for treatment.

Officers from Bang Phlat Police Station believed the car was going at high speed when it began to lose control due to the wet road surface following rain, resulting in the car hitting an electric post.

Police is collecting footage from surveillance cameras in the area to conclude its investigation.

Only person to remain in the car was the driver. A lot to be said for seat belts.

Mobile police patrols to enforce traffic laws seem nonexistant.

Yet another example of Thailand's disgrace.  When will the Government respond?  When will they supply the police with chase vehicles, active patrol of the roadways.  Where are the Radar Guns I read would be supplied to the Police 8-10 years ago.  It is not so bad the driver killed himself, it was his own fault  after all.  But what about the passengers.

This is again proof that  the government does not care about it's citizens.

They do. The highway police have them. You usually see them parked up outside a 'Highway Police' station.

bloody car, bloody rain, bloody road, bloody pole.......................... THE CAR was speeding, THE CAR began to loose control and THE CAR hit the pole.............obviously the expert driver behind the wheel had absolutely no responsibility at all !!!!!!!! this lack if responsibility applies also to the 3 passengers without seat belts.................. BLOODY NASTY CAR

Please give me the car model (if recognizable)so I would never ever buy this kind od irresponsible vehicule.............

Unfortunately , in this country even that won't help you if you get taken out by a speeding idiot.

Just another wet morning in Thailand and just another morning where everything is blamed on the Car and/or conditions, never the mentality or skills of the driver.    Seems obvious the passengers were not wearing seat belts, so 'mentality' rears its head again !

Look at the state of the car. Must have been a very slippy road.

Why have them? As Ivorbiggun says they only ever seen parked up outside highway police boxes, never out patrolling the roads as they should be doing.

Just another serious accident caused by stupidity, when will it end?

It will never end until proper driving tuition is introduced here, and when will that be? Never.

When I read the headline I automatically switched the the terms '3 killed as speeding electric pole rams car'. Maybe I've been here too long, Ha. Seriously though, in wet weather it seems to me that Thai drivers push all the risk factors to the limit and beyond...and this is the result.

My condolences to the families.

Except at supersonic speeds.

True, but hopefully they just take themselves out. It is dangerous out there though.

They are. Which is exactly why people drive the way they do. They know they can do so with total impunity. That is, until their idiocy kills them and unfortunate others.

Or a substantial pole.

No, the driver caused the accident.

R.I.P

And there you go again boys all worked up over something you have no control over driver training, police patrols, and radar guns. Actually they have portable radar guns with camera, got busted a few years ago going to Chiang Mai

They are too busy making sure the rules for the virus are obeyed.

Yes they do, they have kept the virus away.

RIP stationary post. Go join your relatives in stationary post heaven

ref 'smedly' comment.. ''all back to normal - drunks speeding and carnage and no police to stop them''

How could the police possibly stop them,  let alone see them from the inside of gold shops as they play with their phones stop all day ?

The cars are parked there so as NOT to get dirty or worn out.

When time to replace with a new patrol car, someone will grab these vehicles at mates rates

Ask a Thai about breaking distances in wet weather, ok better not

RIP to them, whatever the reason they are dead now.
