All flights from Egypt to be barred from landing in Thailand

All flights from Egypt will be barred from landing in Thailand, following an incident last week when members of an Egyptian military mission defied Thai regulations by not confining themselves to their hotel in Rayong.

One of the group was later found to be infected with COVID-19, causing alarm among residents of the province.  Several schools were closed today, as a precautionary measure, as health officials try to trace people who might have been in close contact with the Egyptians.

Deputy Army Commander-in-Chief, General Nataphol Narkpanich, in his capacity as deputy chief of the committee to consider the easing of lockdown restrictions, said today (Tuesday) that the CCSA’s subcommittee will propose that the Government bar the landing of all flights from Egypt for the time being.

Incompetence. I really see that there are too many departments making rules in government that should come from one steering committee. As, we are seeing breaks in the cohesion of the rules.

Because of one Egyptian , now 10 schools and 1000 people are at risk?

There goes the travel bubble NO thanks to that Egyptian, I think it will be very difficult to come back into Thailand for many nationalities for many more months due to this case.

Thailand should implement like what they do in China and other countries, i.e you have to pay for the hotel fees and the personnel to guard you for 14 days.

It's all government regulated and not embassy regulated like in this case. The embassy could abuse the system.

Sooner or later, Thailand is going to ban all flight crews, diplomats as well.

(No) Thanks to these type of people, Thailand won't be opening up soon to any travel bubble.

Yes, and now China has to test 120 million people who visited a shopping center at the same time as this Egyptian death platoon!

And the funny part in all this is how fickle and forgetful Thais are.

First it’s the bad Chinese, then the dirty Europeans, now it’s the Egyptians who are bad, and so it continues until every Thai has completely forgotten about the first one.

Think he is already back in Egypt as they left and it was not until afterwards the test results came back confirming one of them had tested positive....

They first landed in Rayong on July 9, then flew to China. Then flew back to Rayong on July 10.

It's not even a full day if you consider the flight time to and fro to China so it's safe to assume they didn't spend the night in China.

What were they doing in China without being quarantined like most visitors to China?

Lock up your mothers, wives and children the foreigners have invaded Thailand, well we let them in, and now we will never trust anyone ever again, unless they have lots of money, but No No never again.....

I doubt they went there for a day trip, they might be picking up some personnel or cargo. They left Rayong on July 9 and came back to Rayong on July 10. It's too short a time.

They were already shopping in Rayong at 11 am meaning the crew were already in Rayong quite early to take a nap before going shopping.

You mean like selecting a series of hotels, partnering them with hospitals and have arriving foreigners quarantine at them for 14 days ????.... You could perhaps call them ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine) facilities.

Excatly! And many people were bitching about the closed  borders. They want the government open the borders so tourists can flow in to Thailand. People have no common sense who were and are bitching about that they can not travel  or no tourists allowed in to the country. I hope those people now can realize how dangerous is to open the borders. One little mistake caused panic in that province and possibly  few people  got infected. So that people are bitching like a little girl have to think twice before they talk and have to  use their common sense.
