The Department of Disease Control (DDC) confirmed on Thursday (July 16) that a patient suspected of carrying Covid-19 on Monday (July 13) was free from the infection.

Dr Suwanchai Wattanayingcharoenchai, the director-general, said that the DDC was informed on Tuesday (July 14) about possible infection in a 31-year-old woman. Her arms and legs had swollen up so she was admitted in a hospital in Bangkok on June 30.

Her condition did not improve, and she also had pneumonia, raising suspicions in the doctors that she was infected with the new coronavirus.

She was sent to Siriraj hospital.

Her samples were later checked by officials of Siriraj Hospital,.King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and the Department of Medical Sciences, and Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute. The result showed no infection.

According to the woman’s husband, the factory where they worked was not a high-risk area for infection. There was no new staff and no one had returned from overseas.

The US would have classed it as a Covid19 infection because of the initial possibility and would never have bothered to correct the finding. It's pathetic how each country has it's own rules on how to tally the statistics of this virus.
