I did fly upper level economy. Hated having the hosties wheeling through the fine dining for the biz class while we got the usual cattle class muck.

Obviously flew on the wrong airline. Thai Air economy on the 747 was great. Lots of leg room.

Thats not quite true. Boeing still has 100 freighter versions of the 747 in it's backlog, so spare parts are under Federal law guaranteed for 10 years after suspension of any model discontinuation.

 

Apart from that, the number of 747's parked up in Victorville mean that second hand spare parts are probably available for the next 100 years
