BLM is about what exactly?  Police violence against blacks?  Is it really?

Mail Online - Cuban restaurant owner in Louisville reveals how BLM sent him blackmail letter with diversity demands that he was told to meet or risk social media shaming, a public boycott and his storefront 'f***** with'

The full letter is reprinted in the article.  Among the demands, this one falls under Education:

Knowledge is crucial to efforts to correct the systems of racial oppression upheld by white-owned businesses.  I, therefore, commit to the following educational activities to guarantee that Black representation is achieved and maintained in the NuLu Business District:

  • Attendance, by myself and ALL my staff, at an initial diversity, equity, and inclusion training that will be:
  • Conducted in person.
  • Inclusive and intersectional, addressing numerous characteristics, including, but not limited to race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity

Gender, sex orientation and gender identity??  The rest is just as mind blowing.  These people will take us back into the Dark Ages.

I'll ask again, is BLM really about police violence against blacks?

The Dems and libs not only go along with this stuff, they support it.  Un-frickin'-believable.

No, BLM is not JUST about police violence.  It's also about other issues, including systemic racism.

"It's also about other issues . . . "  And the list goes on and on and on.  Gender, sex orientation and gender identity?  That has nothing to do with racism.  If people want to deny their biological heritage then go right ahead.  I don't have anything against it.  But to force it's acceptance onto me under threat?  Never.  All I see is that the Dems and libs are setting themselves up for major unintended consequences.

  • Thank you Mr President. Rather odd the headline photo doesn't show the destruction to the park the protesters caused. The gov and major should face charges of dereliction of duty.

  • Oh the horror, you mean we can't take over public parks and destroy public property as we please. We have to follow the law.

  • This behaviour is very much reminiscent of that of thought police forces in countries like Russia, China, and others where free thought is not allowed.

First, how cruel and harsh do you have to be to handcuff children face down on the ground?

Second, how lazy or dumb do you have to be to confuse an out of state license plate issued for a motorcycle, with an in-state license plate issued for a car?

Quote

But before they could even find an open salon, the family’s four children were ordered at gunpoint to lie facedown on the parking lot, and two were handcuffed. The Black girls, who range from 6 to 17 years old, broke down into tears and screams as a group of White police officers hovered over them.

[SNIP]

Aurora’s police chief apologized on Monday night and launched an internal investigation after video of the incident quickly went viral. Police blamed a misunderstanding: The license plate number on a stolen motorcycle matched the family’s blue SUV, and that car had been reported missing earlier this year, too.

There is that but should also consider attitude towards law enforcement.  These officers have a job to do and if you don't follow the rules then their role in their public duties is to enforce them.

I suspect the mother would be similarly officious if she had to enforce the rules in her own career, whatever that may be.

There are plenty of rules that are selectively enforced against some but not others.

Here's what Trump should do with Portland--absolutely nothing. Let these Democrat-run cities do what is inevitable: Implode miserably. Let the white and middle-class flight happen, leaving the inner cities with an ever-decreasing tax base, and then, when these cities beg for alms, extend a middle finger. Let them lie in the hole they have dug for themselves.

Well antifa and BLM are still banging away in Portland so I guess that whole “in response to federal police” argument is blown out of the water.

An 18-year-old man in Portland has been charged with assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon and willfully damaging government property after his explosive device allegedly blasted both of a deputy U.S. Marshal’s legs, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Oregon.

Fox news will be the only place you see this, CNN won't be talking about it.

I checked, you are correct, looks like neither NYT nor CNN are reporting on Maza.

To their credit the Washington Post does report on Maza, however, as a footnote in a general 'violence not so bad" article.

More than 70 people have been charged with federal crimes and citations related to the nightly clashes between U.S. agents and Portland protesters.

Ken Cuccinelli, acting deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday that there had been 277 injuries to about 140 federal law enforcement officers in Portland.

Portland accounts for about 30 percent of the more than 270 federal charges brought nationally since May that the Justice Department ties to the civil unrest.

Among those charged in the alleged targeting of federal officers is 18-year-old Isaiah Jason Maza Jr., accused of setting off an explosive at the courthouse that injured a deputy U.S. marshal on July 22. He made his first court appearance Monday on felony charges of assaulting a federal officer using a dangerous weapon and depredation of federal government property.

Another 18-year-old, Gabriel Agard-Berryhill, made his first court appearance last week on a felony arson charge for allegedly starting a fire at the courthouse with fireworks.

Both Agard-Berryhill and Maza have argued in court that they were given the explosives by other protesters and did not realize they would be so damaging. If found guilty, they each could face up to 20 years in prison.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/federal-officers-may-be-leaving-portland-but-federal-charges-will-linger-for-many/2020/08/05/20d5e9ca-d683-11ea-b9b2-1ea733b97910_story.html

So there are people at the protests handing out explosives to 18 year old vandals and thugs, most likely Antifa handing out explosives. As a result of this an 18 year old will now go to jail for up to 20 years (probably 6 to 10) because Antifa used him in a protest and handed him explosives.  Maza will be convicted because there is video footage of his crime.

Would be interesting to know his political affiliation, if any, should find out once convicted, if not sooner.

Well he's 18, so probably Portland Trail Blazers.

Incorrect. As an example the officer is named in the article below. You do realise the alleged killer is a right-wing extremist?

Long opening article should be short as--USA's civil war in progress.

I love these broad and hyperbolic generalizations about how Trump is this or that and yet the poster never feels compelled to offer a single concrete example in terms of policy supporting the claim. It's all just empty rhetoric.

There are so many articles / news reports, nearly every day. covering trump's ongoing destruction of US institutions & society by way of policy, twitter statements, whatever, I'm sure you're capable of fact checking yourself. If for some reason you cannot, you're welcome to query via a post, not PM, on a specific item so long as don't then rant about lefties etc.

I'm not in Portland or Seattle (or Chicago) but they are a total mess. The local government is doing nothing to protect the citizen and lets the mob run wild. Lives have been and are being lost. Trump's response and responsibility is to protect federal property and that's what he did. The federal courthouse in Portland was being attached nightly and the local police were told to stand down. The lefty politicians are afraid of offending their darling law breaking thugs, because they think they mean well. Well the only aim of the mob has been to burn and destroy public property.

The lefty politicians are fools, because the mob represents only a small percent of the population and no way speaks for the whole. Would you vote for someone who refuses to provide a safe and free environment for everyone. Oh, you are not American anyway so you can't legally vote in the US.
