The Attorney general is an absolute disgrace, should hang his head in shame. If you or I or any normal person fled Thailand to escape prosecution, that in itself would be a crime. Ignoring summons would be a crime. Would it not? But, not for the wealthy. But "You, Little People!, shut up and get those masks on and don't question authority...move along!" Popular Post soalbundy
Well that's a relief, now that the police spokesman has delivered that statement I can continue to have faith in the Thai justice system knowing that Thailand is based on rule of law. ???? 2

"The Law" is too, too difficult for the commoners to understand and it's not the duty of the media to question "The Law", especially as it's applied to the filthy rich and obscenely wealthy...not to mention the 'connected.' It's the news media role to make sure that the commoners understand that they need to wear masks and follow orders without questioning authorities and act subservient to their betters.

No double-standard here. Yes, even if you’re innocent of a crime, you can’t run away. It’s a crime in itself which you would be imprisoned for regardless of your eventual innocent verdict. But, hey. As some members like to say, “This is Thailand. Who cares? Things will never change. The family were compensated”. And to them I’d like to quote a great tweet from a young Thai person: ”The scary thing about this is that it could happen to any of us. We could be hit by one of these people and die and no justices would be made. Our lives, as regular, normal commoners, are cheap as dirt” I think my favourite loathsome comment about this whole saga was when a member was asked why the prosecutor dropped the charges, to which he replied “Because they can. This is Thailand” Ah, the small-minded bigotry of low expectation.

Popular Post M71
Money talks BS walks in every country - get used to it boys and girls. Whining about Thailand being just as corrupt as the USA, Europe etc won't help much. At least Thailand does not hide the corruption behind the lying media like the west does. 4 2

Popular Post klauskunkel
"No double standards in": - Thonglor Police Col rushing to Red Calf's residence to advise on legalities - having a household staff pretend to be the driver - dragging their feet to serve charges until the Red Calf could flee the country - mixing up, delaying, misunderstanding Interpol arrest requirements and form translations for years I think the only standard that really mattered was the generous donation to the Police Standard Improvement Fund. No double standard in that just regular SOP. 5

herwin1234
drunk driving kills many innocent ppl each year. to decide NOT to punish a drunk hit and run driver is a slap in the face of ppl who lost loved ones to reckless drunk drivers. this is a bad day for Thailand. unfortunately its not unique for Thailand. even the usa protects a hit and run driver who is responsible for a deadly accident. a grieving uk family will not see justice.

You never know, to balance things out and to appease the masses, tomorrow's headline might just read that the PM has now agreed to drop all charges relating to the Shinawatra's and that they are now welcome to return to Thailand.........well, we know that ain't going to happen, don't we. Not happen.Because they would have to give him money back.
