Still No Email Notifications

Mobi

Recommended Posts

I know I said I wouldn't mention this again, but it has been quite a while now, so just in case you thought the problem has been solved I can assure you that it hasn't.

I seem to get a reasonable rate of email notifications on Threads that I can contribute to, but hardly any email notifications for new topics in forums I have subscribed for immediate email notification.

I get notifications for new topics in DD, and Bedlam (both private forums), and some notifications in the press clippings forum, but none for new topics in the Pattaya and general forums and some other forums.

I have re-checked my control page and these forums are definitely activated for immediate notification - but nothing ever gets notified to me.

Over to you, Mr Admin. :o

Have you whitelisted [email protected] in your email account?

Sorry George, don't understand.

What is whitelisted?

Just to reiterate - I get some notifications - mainly on subscribed topics , but not all. The missing ones are mainly on new topics in subscribed forums. It's all 'hit and miss' - same as before - not much logic to what I get and what I don't get.

Have you checked your junk mail folder Mobi?

Yes, JD , nothing there.

To show you what I mean, I have received emails on both yours and George's posts on this topic, so no problems receiving emails. But I haven't had any emails on new topics in the Pattaya or general forums in days. Sometimes the odd one comes through, but by no means all.

It's the same problem I've been having for 2 - 3 months. Before that everything was fine, and I haven't changed anything.

Just so you don't feel alone Mobi, the problem still persists for me also for several months. Get maybe 20-30% of subscribed topics, rarely any news clippings. The only consistent subscription notices seems from the mod forum topics. I just gave up on it and stopped commenting about it.

Funny thing is I get pretty much all the news clippings but only some of the stuff in General and Pattaya forums.

It's frustrating, because sometimes they seem to come through OK, and I think I'm getting all of them, then I look in the forums and find loads that I haven't seen before in emails.

I use GMail, but nothing is getting deleted or put in junk mail.

As George knows, we set up a 'dummy account' to monitor it, and I used another email (hotmail) and exactly the same thing happened. So it's nothing to do with the email provider, or junk mail etc.

Just thought I'd mention it again, because at the time it was thought it may have something to do with the undersea cable problems, or the new server .

Well whatever, it seems like it's here for good.

Nice to know I'm not alone though. :o

Sam here, just for the record.

Given up on relying on the email notifications - if one comes through I click it out of interest, but for a topic I really want to follow it's too unreliable and I have to either bookmark it or just remember it and keep following it in the forum. No junk mail problems either and also, like Mobi, I get some messages but not all. Sometimes even for the same topic I'll get notifications for a while but then they stop for ages, then about 2 weeks later I'll get another email and find that the topic's been going for 4 or 5 pages without me knowing about it.

Also, sometimes if I click around ThaiVisa and then close my browser, it seems to trigger something off as occasionally 2 or 3 emails will suddenly appear in my inbox telling me about new replies. Again, usually a couple of pages down the line since my last notification though.

By the way, strangely, I've just this morning received an email telling me that someone has replied to a thread I was subscribed to and when I clicked the link there was no reply at all, the last reply being by me way back in February...

Perhaps it was a reply that was deleted by a mod for some reason.

If you PM me the email message with the thread link, I'll look into it further for you.
