Thai Aiways cancels its September flights

Featured Replies

The titles says it all

Although it was to be expected (Visa amnesty until 26 of September) Thai Airways has cancelled its flight for that month.

I was notified this afternoon: has anyone received the same kind of news for a later (month) flight ?

Still waiting for the right timing to go to Europe for a few weeks and back here without having to go through all these drastic measures. Not holding my breath though ????

Thai Airways is bankrupt. All their flights (except those organised by Thai government) have been cancelled until October at the earliest, and even that might not happen.   Haven't you seen

I was planning flight to Europe too ,but did not risked it...., so now I would call myself lucky if next year June all is a bit normal again , but I really doubt about it , think more my flight in 2022 by-by Thailand back to live home country shall be my earliest next one !

Only lucky to have no problem staying legally Thailand , so no worry's about that

Haven't you seen any news at all?

My flight to for 22 September cancelled rebooked October again if that cancelled i book November and so on... i was talking to Thai Airways it not about bankruptcy it about Thai Government wont let any one in and the Airlines need time to prepare for scheduled flights..  Thai is under protected bankruptcy.. i would not expect the Thai Government would let the main source of its holidaymakers fail and it would also be a big loss of face..

Can you  link me the source as, even their staff, do not know

I have booked for June next year as it will avoid me being worried about cancellations every month ???? This way if there is an opening earlier on I will try to get on the train (plane)

Thai Airways keeps bombarding me with messages about their bankruptcy proceedings. Not sure if only those they owe money to get the news, or their ROP members, or shareholders... but sometimes they'd send me 1000+ page court filing documents with translations... And no stop sending me <deleted>... erm, I mean unsubscribe option!

I have got one (long) mail with the full list of proceedings when they went bankrupt

since then only twice to update ´y cancelled flights

But not once an official mail about them not resuming before October ( which seems, although uncertain, to be the case

Not true, THAI still fly domestically.

Why would anyone book a flight in advance to a country that has sealed borders?!

Thai Smile (WE) is not same as Thai Airways (TG).

The army's current bunker mentality is not helping. Something must be done to resuscitate the economy and bring millions back into the work force. A cautious approach. But some approach. Something. Anything.

Thai smile ( their TG subsidiary airline )   is flying some domestic routes,  as are Bangkok airways.

There is zero chance that this virus is going to be eradicated, probably for years to come, as far too many people lack the intelligence, patience and self-control to deal with it by radically changing their lifestyle.

Every place that has prematurely attempted even a modest return to normal has suffered a rise in infections, and last Friday saw the biggest one-day rise ever. And the more people jump the gun and try to get back to how they lived before 2020 the longer the virus will flourish.

Businesses of all kinds will fold, countless millions will be out of work and struggle to survive. Many will not. But that's the way it is, and wishing and pretending it isn't so doesn't work for anyone. And, the longer people take to the streets and pointlessly protest, as they have done in various places around the world, the more damage will be done.

Thailand has been right (and I've never written that before) in strictly controlling the borders, and they will continue to do so until the threat of the virus has been removed, no matter what the financial and social consequences. Again, there is no point in wishing and hoping the virus away. That doesn't work. Dealing with it with an iron fist might.

Can I butt in and ask a question which will be of interest to this topic?

Does anyone think that the soldiers government will ever abolish this insurance farce for $100.000 for cover for Coronavirus, even when things get back to near enough normal?

I wonder when to cancel themselves.

Why should I change my lifestyle when the chances of getting seriously ill are so low, the only thing that I do is wear a bandana in a shop as it's a face covering and I'm only doing that because the UK government has forced people to do it. All of my friends here have had enough of this BS now and if people take to the streets it's because they have had enough of the control!

Thailand will just go back 40 years with no incoming tourist money as other methods to improve the massive drop in GDP will take years to implement.

Well I unscribe that messages recently, it is possible.

No Thai for me anymore.

Seen the news this morning and Thai are arranging 2 return flights in Sept, 1 to Copenhagen  but i dont remember the other, they are flights to pick up Thai's stranded but seats are for sale, or is this the latest news that these are not now going.

Repatriation flights are going, regular service is not.

Because Thai is in Bankruptcy and is trying to make a plan for creditors to accept the last thing it needs to do is fly a big jet half full at best to another country pay all the fees to that country and then fly back empty.

The only way Thai or any airline is going to fly is if it can get either enough people on the plane to pay all the bills both ways or enough cargo to offset the costs and pay in lieu of passengers.

As to relaxing the rules forget it.  The Thai people will revolt if there is another 14 day shutdown because of tourists that come into the country and infect people.  Even if there are no  deaths.

I cannot link to the source, but you can try to Google this article from August 2nd: "Thai Airways arranges repatriation flights to EU and Taiwan".

As part of phase 6 of the easing of the lockdown they are already relaxing the criteria, with group quarantine. The insurance will soon be a thing of the past.

"The entry is granted to foreign business representatives, specialists, diplomats, migrant workers, exhibitors, film crews, medical tourists and Thailand Elite card members. One requirement is that they are required to stay in "organisational quarantine" facilities and such facilities must meet disease control standards."

I wonder why so many people target to Thai airways ...it is not the only airline who can bring you to your home country if wished ...more are flying ...but OUT of Bangkok only ....

Forget your vouchers from Thai .....gone ...important debt collectors shall have priority..
