No vaccine against virus of nation hatred, warns Army chief

General Apirat Kongsompong

In an advice making in the 133rd anniversary of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy on Wednesday (August 5), Army chief General Apirat Kongsompong warned young cadets that people can recover from Covid-19, but not from “hatred of the nation”.

He was at the Nakhon Nayok-based academy with the prime minister and other top brass.

While checking cadets’ uniforms, the general reminded them that the Covid-19 virus was not as scary as the illness of criticising one’s own country and that there was no vaccine against it.

Apirat told the press later that children should be taught to love their motherland, so they don’t grow up to be nation haters.

I don't think this clown realises that the people love their country, but despise the scumbags (like him), who steal their freedoms along with the country's wealth.

Truly unpleasant thought and speech. An embarrassment to the country he professes to love so much.

Not sure the country will ever recover from the government of Prayut.

At least with Covid, you can minimalise being infected with it, masking, social distancing etc.

With this government, even the Thais with a legitimate vote at the polling station, could do nothing to stop the shambles in charge now !

There is a problem here with the way that the word Thai is used.

This is not the Thai way. Most Thais are opposed to this but they have no choice.

This is the military way to help them to retain power.

I do not believe that anyone 'hates Thailand'. However, they are concerned about the enforced control that they are under.

Treat the folk as mushrooms....kept in the dark and fed with sh..i...te.....

Where some make coherent and logical speech others make hysterical and divisive comments. This man is the biggest danger to the Thai nation, and lets not forget the ex military hospital director decaring that any protestors should be made unemployable.

It’s like a gang of uniformed thieves who hide themselves behind your flag....then demand that you respect, love, and thank them for kicking in your door, ransacking your home...and stealing everything they can lay their hands on.

Yes, he was subliminally referring to antiGens

Very few could be called "Nation Haters and he knows it. What he is really trying to say is don't try and stop us stealing everything from you that we can, or get upset about it, because we will screw you over if you try to change it..

Would point out hatred of corrupt generals ruling by force of arms is not the same as hating the nation.

If you love your nation, surely you would want it to be a free nation?

I would suggest those who follow the pathways of corruption and nepotism are the greatest nation haters, as those two behaviours cause the nation the greatest damage.

I will leave it to your imagination to decide which institutions are populated the most by those type of people.

Here have never been democracy! If you live in Kingdom where one people have power to do what ever want!

Even military get off from politics, still its not full democracy!

Brainwashing the sheep. A bit of a waste of time, me thinks.

It is not Thailand people "hate" , just the people who have seized control of the country through "election"

Thick-skinned, dimwitted, intolerant and ignorant. He's a far right-wing militarist, how could he possibly have made any other kind of speech?

Oh criticising  is a virus now eh? Such delicate snowflakes.

So if you can't treat and or cure the patient - what then? This sounds very much like a grave threat to me. A threat against the people who are the nation.

The sooner this man is retired and muzzled the better. He clearly only thinks one way and will not accept anything less.

Hate Thailand?  I still love Thailand and have a Thai flag at my gate (underneath my own national flag)  However my current gate is no longer the one still owned by my family in Thailand, whom we still help support in several ways.  I have chosen to leave LOS for a variety of reasons and currently I feel very sorry for my second home in LOS.   It has just lost its way (again) at the moment.

B.T.W., I also still love my late natural father too, but I do recognise some of things he did, that I don't agree with!  I am sure most Thai people would understand and empathize my situation.   As should the General!!!!!!!

Criticising thai government or military top brass  by average thai people is far more dangerous than covid (not only by demonstration but social network too)????????????

If only there was a vaccine to protect the nation from army generals.

No Thai hates their nation, they just hate the corrupt, junta based election fixers

"Thai way"? have you read the majority of posts on TVF, "critical thinkers" are immediately labelled "conspiracy theorists" can't blame the Thai's for copying what happens and has been happening daily in the western media, two prime examples of perpetrators being CNN & the BBC.

Just like I thought. A scare tactic or else! It will take the ones in the military to divide in order to get these elite regime pests out of limelight.

Why is El-Pinocchio at this academy with other army Fathead elites? It just shows you he is still all military and nothing going to change that dressing him up in any cotume.

There you have it from the crying Bozo. Bunch of Full on BS! Thai love their country and people but not the Regime or Elites or what they protect, suppress and control. Only hate is towards them. Period!

It's scary that someone who thinks like this can be in charge of the countries Army and it's weapons.
Not only that they are running the country too.

Perpetuating the indoctrinated ideology that "Thai's" live in a democratic country ????

Democracy is not a fallacy by definition but the system is full of fallacies - even in an ideal country, of which none springs to mind that come close to this!

The alternatives aren't so great unfortunately, as we are being driven into a socialist/communistic dystopian society!
