What about elite card holders? Are they now allowed to enter?

Yes. (Have to go through hoops of getting a COE first, insurance, COVID tests and quarantine on arrival at your own expense).

But there are still no commercisl flights and thus the only way in is a spot on a repatriation flight and those are hard to get. I haven't read  of anyone on Elite Visa getting one yet;  in most countries there is still a backlog of Thai citizens andd foreigners married to Thais seeking to reunite with their families awaiting spots on these flights.

If/ when commercial flights resume it may be easier.

In any event you need to contact your local Thai Embassy to register your desire to return and seek a COE. But they may say to wait until there are commercial flights.

They're deeply concerned about a few foreign tourists, yet are happy to allow a million migrant workers in with minimal checks.

These people never ceases to amaze me!!! ????????????????????

The police must be getting short of white Europeans to single out in the traffic and extort money from. Pathetic !  For many years now the western Farang has been viewed purely as "Prey" by the Thai authorities, a shortcut to obtaining relatively large amounts of cash by outright victimization, and now the pigeons are coming home to roost. The disgusting behavior and treatment of people who came here purely to have an enjoyable holiday or retirement has caused all this, you only have yourselves to blame !

Based on current information I think the kingdom will remain closed except under some quarantine measures until end of the year at the earliest.  We are now only 5 months away with no real sign that Thailand would tolerate even a single case of Community transmission.

He may for sure find that very difficult.

Absolutely correct are the tests so far carried out on foreign arrivals accurate, how many who  tested positive actually required medical treatment for covid or are they otherwise perfectly well. It is worrying to note that all those tested positive have emanated from Thais who have been working in middle east countries. What will happen to all these workers now they are in Thailand but now unemployed.

But for the first 3 months they did almost absolutely nothing and Thai society didn't collapse. January through March there were around 7 million arrivals(Jan. 4 million, Feb. 2 million, and March 1 million). It makes no sense.

ORDERED...Still thinks he's in the Army... sorry i forgot.. "he is"!  Kim Jong-un move over a bit more please you have competition.

I wish they would stop this nonsense. There is no need to continue to develop the plan to develop the plan to develop the plan for foreigners to enter. They can’t even handle a few visiting army personal from Israel let alone tourists. Just wait until Covid 19 is finished.

That's if you ever get there as some my friends paid for the flight and the flight was cancelled.

You guessed it no refund. We might have to leave Thailand on the back of a buffalo come 26 sept.

Absurd discussion to even consider.

Will someone please tell them that the virus does not differentiate between long stay or a few days

Oh I know, 80,000 from Wuhan directly throughout that time. It is quite perplexing. However the mutation that occurred somewhere in Europe has shown in lab studies to potentially be 8-10 times more infectious. The mutation is 100% confirmed and in lab studies it has shown to be more infectious, however this has yet to be proven in real life.
Thailand doesn't have enough test kits to take on a full blown spread, and I doubt that they are able to properly track and trace everything either. Still, I think the borders should have opened weeks ago, if most people wear masks in public, this should be enough to limit the spread rate and make it manageable.

The Government can hold their " Mobile Cabinet Meeting " wherever they wish, but it will not stop the rampant paranoia that the Thai people feel over the Covid threat.

Too good a job was done on the population with all the scare mongering , and " Dirty Farang " rhetoric back in April / May.

The seeds were sown for a deep and unhealthy mistrust of anybody not Thai.

So, they have no made contingency plans yet whatsoever? Wow.

The real issue is getting Chinese tourists back and reigniting the Thai-Chinese economic cooperation at multiple levels.  The PM is hoping the $1.58Bn, 258km Sino-Thai hi-speed railway will be signed in Oct. which involves the cost of purchasing track, electricity systems and machinery, as well as procurement of train carriages and training.

If they push for Chinese tourists, their PR image must reflect their paper thin veneer of fairness in immigration policy. I suspect the Govt. will relax restrictions and open for more tourism and international flights in Sept.

There is only one way to get the tourists back so they can get their economy going, it is to open up the country whether they like it or not, forget about the 14 day quarantine, or keep the country closed until a vaccine arrives  .

No "tourist" is going to go come to Thailand under these conditions.

Those who come for a long stay may well go through that process.

The problem is do you trust Thai authorities to not let those in quarantine escapae into the night?

BANGKOK — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday said there is currently no plan to expand the list of foreigners allowed to enter the country, including retirees with homes and families in Thailand.

Press officer Yajai Bunnag said only four groups of non-Thai nationals announced in the latest regulation are permitted into the Kingdom at the moment. They include those holding a certificate of permanent residency, a work permit, those who have a special arrangements with the government, and migrant workers.

So that just means One rule for the High connected an Migrant workers and a No No for the rest.

Isn't that Great So the High connected and Migrant workers can bring in the virus Freely

People in Thailand if don’t wake up this is an organized crime agains people and businesses worldwide just to be able to create a huge money grabbing reason under the mandatory vaccination  to let the world injected which clearly has another dangerous reason too other than profit making, the including thailand and every naive countries will suffer it severely. It’s only up to them.

Brother of one of my friends has a place in Pattaya and lives there most of the year . He is stuck in the uk and wants to return without all the hoop jumping and asked at Thai embassy when he would likely get back . They told him possibly around April !! If so the country should be pretty much ruined by then I would think.

Pretty much. It's old news just recycled.

Lots of comments here for a quote from the PM that said exactly nothing
