olfu
As you know there are bunch of countries on this planet and some doing better than others. So where is Thailand fits in by misery index? Surprisingly for me the most miserable country is Venezuela with inflation over 1000% and unknown unemployment rate as over 4 million citizens plainly moved out. Viva socialism! On other hand the least miserable county is Thailand beating everybody second year in a row. And my favored country USA start chasing top spot dropping 25 spots facing Venezuela. All of this you can find on such sites as Cato Institute, Visual capitalist etc. Have fun!

Is it General Prayut completing the survey on behalf of Thailand? He is the one bringing peace and happiness to all.

Viva socialism! Easy to blame socialism, but there are plenty of socialist countries doing great. Perhaps it's not the economic system they've chose, but rather the governing system. There are thriving, democratic, socialist countries. Maybe it's totalitarianism, corruption or multi-national companies' tendency to destroy governments who don't allow them to rape and pillage the indigenous people and their land. If not directly through hiring their own mercenaries (as in the banana wars), but also through political pressure on their own governments to impose crippling sanctions (as in Cuba- like that's had the desired effect in over 50 years). johnray
I think we need more festivals from May to November. That is a low spot. After that there is Christmas, New Years, Halloween, Loi Kratong and Songkran almost back to back. Indians have holi festival but that is only one thing in a whole year. Cairo has Eid. This is like lots of fireworks and music. Rio has the street carnival but the rest of the year is empty. I think Thailand wins with the fun most fun calendar. The UK and USA is only fun for the rich. The poor dread buying presents, do overtime and sit at home watching tv. Edited August 8, 2020 by johnray
timendres
Some people are miserable no matter what country they are in.
Heppinger
While I'm not a huge fan of Socialism, Venezuela's biggest problems have been sanctions placed on the country by other countries for not participating in corporate sh*tf*ckery. As it turns out Venezuela has sh*t tins of resources that already filthy rich parasites would like to have. When these corporate parasites are asked to use lube or to put on a condom they usually spit the dummy and demand the rape victim have a can of democracy opened up on their ass. cmarshall
A big factor in the Misery Index is the unemployment rate. Thailand's unemployment rate has for years been close to zero. If you believe that then Thailand's misery is indeed low, but those numbers look suspect to me.

Yes, statistics like anything else is subject to manipulation.
