The Criminal Court on Saturday granted bail to student activist Parit Chiwarak on the condition that he must not repeat the alleged offences.

Thammasat University's assistant professor, Adisorn Chantarasuk, was the guarantor.

Parit was arrested on August 14 on eight charges: provoking unrest, holding an illegal gathering of more than 10 people for activities that caused unrest, holding activities that exposed the public to the risk of a contagion, blocking public path, obstructing traffic, placing objects on streets, using loudspeakers without prior approval and jointly using force against other people but not causing harm to their bodies and mind.

On Saturday, the Criminal Court reportedly issued arrest warrants for 15 people on charges related to security and political gathering.

Police investigators are also gathering evidence to ask for warrants to arrest another 16 people.

The criminal court is scraping the barrel here, going after people who want to quietly show their disapproval of people, initially unelected, and, shambolically trying govern the country.

Maybe they should go after the real criminals, as in a lot the of the people in the said government !

Those should be levied to half the trading population of Thailand........what a witch hunt, totally corrupt Government using Police as their own private army.

A bit of an anticlimax after the drama of his arrest. I must say appearances are deceptive, the guy looks like he'd be happier posting stuff from his mom's basement rather than being a leading student activist; and indeed, his Mom was there at the court hearing.

What's that saying, never judge a book by its cover. Prayut, and his ilk, are gonna have a real problem dealing with this rather nerdy generation - Harry Potter, Japanese manga, The Hunger Games.

provoking unrest

But a coup is okay.

I think the students need as much support as the older people in the community can give.  Everyone is effected when there are unprincipled and corrupt people running things.

Pathetic.

I can see demonstrations even riots on the streets of major university cities by the year end if the government don’t listen to those protesting

If so it will properly just be shut down like always.

I'm surprised they are not being charged with counter revolution. This is getting more like China every day.
