Hello, fellow Bangkokians! Could anyone suggest a decent psychiatrist, preferably in a public hospital, who knows how to diagnose and treat ADHD? Perhaps, someone had an experience here already. My experience of going to Prasat Neurological Institute ended up in Dr. Jada Pongkanchana (not sure of the transliteration is totally correct) ignoring most of my words, diagnosing a depressive episode and prescribing an antidepressant and a tranquilizer for sleep. And Ramathibodi Hospital, which I've visited first, was just offering an appointment in November. Money is very much a concern, otherwise I'd go to a private hospital and not have a problem. So, private hospitals is my last resort, if I cannot find a better doctor in a public one.
Thank you very much!

While you are looking for the right ADHD support, take a look at some tech options as well, since these can start assisting you today with your ADHD related challenges.

To start, open your phone's app store, type in "ADHD adult" and peruse the results. There really are a good number of resources/apps to help you achieve your goals and improve focus.

Additionally, there are ADD/ADHD focused websites that list even more resources.

Thank you for the tip! I do use some of the things already. Also can advice Procrastitracker for PC. Not that it really helps to not waste time, but it helps to understand, how it was wasted ????.
The question about doctors/hospitals remains, however. ????

Thai psychiatrists often have a problem with the idea of adult ADHD (I assume that is what you mean), many think it is exclusively a pediatric problem. There is also a high level of suspicion towards Western clients and drugs...just so you know..

There was a member on this board some time back who was able to get ADD meds at I think Siriraj, but he was already diagnosed and this was in essence a refill. Sounds like you may be looking for more than that i.e. testing, initiation of treatment?

If so, there is  a government psych hospital in the Thonburi area, you could try there but no guarantees.

Thank you for the info and the suggestion! Indeed, I was asking my doctor at Prasat Neurological Institute, why wouldn't she give me at least some kind of questionnaire to help the diagnosis and she mentioned that they only have ones for kids. And I've heard from a friendly medical government official about possible suspicion, as they had some case of a foreigner reselling the prescribed drugs. But it's weird in my opinion, as they don't even allow anything of the amphetamine group anyway.
And yes, you got it correctly - I'm looking for testing and treatment and wasn't diagnosed previously. The situation with ADHD recognition is even worse in my home country, and all the stimulants are prohibited, while stuff like atomoxetine just isn't available. And a friendly psychologist advised me to search for online therapeutic support abroad, because it's unlikely to find one domestically. And she's a cognitive therapy specialist.

Dr Spain in Bumrungrad- Behavioral Medicine Department.  It'll be more expensive than a public hospital, but it's still cheap to visit the doctor.

If money's tight, you're not going to be happy with the price for the meds, which are only available in a hospital pharmacy.  I was paying around 11,000 baht for a 60 day supply.  I'm told that's the maximum they can dispense at one time, but who knows?  That price more than doubled in the 7 years I lived in Thailand.  Good news is that I didn't pay much (if anything) for the doctor to write the refill.

Ooh, that's a lot! I payed 490baht(!) for my unsuccessful visit and meds, what was surprising and very appreciated, especially considering how much of a failure it was. ???? But thank you a lot for a tip anyway! In case nothing else works, I'm definitely gonna use it, because it's hard to overestimate the importance of help. In the meantime, my finances directly suffer from my symptoms, unfortunately, otherwise the price wouldn't be a problem.

Thank you! Been considering them too. Do you know, perhaps, what price range is to be expected there?

i think same as other private hospitals which means total cost of a consultation (without labs or meds, but including doctor fee and hospital fee) probably 1,000 - 1,500 (2,000 tops)  If detailed assessments are involved, would be more.

Your big problem will be meds, if you in fact require ADHD meds these can only be gotten fro ma hospital and you'd want to get them at a government hospital as private hospital mark ups are large.

Right... Had some experience going to a private hospital with bronchitis. The meds' markups are crazy, indeed. But those are covered by my insurance, unlike ADHD.
Been also considering Police Hospital. Heard good review of a psychiatrist from there. But then they asked 1000 baht just to register as a patient, which has turned me away. Never had to pay for registering before.
