It's amazing to me what other people see sometimes.  I watched his entire speech and thought it so uncomfortably contrived, full of fluffy words and well worn concepts. almost mimicking Obama's "Yes, we can" 2008 campaign slogan, while not offering any real or practical substance.  I walked away with the impression that a Hollywood B-movie actor could have delivered the speech with more genuine passion.  In all the speech seemed to me to be strained, artificial, forced, unspontaneous (as if reading from a teleprompter), labored and ultimately phony.

Well he could have done a trump and lied through his teeth, stolen money from charities to pay his campaign bills, and promised to hire "the very best", some of whom are now locked up ......not to mention being so dumb as to make some terrible mistakes that a 10 year old school kid would not make.

 

No, I will settle for Biden and Harris for no other reason than they are better than trump......and the US deserves better than the dumb, lying cheat that is currently in office.

If you felt that way about Biden's balanced, if not grand, speech, I can sympathize with the anguish you must got through not only following Trump's words, but actually defending them.

 

As for "offering real or practical substance", that's your view, but guess me and others would still prefer that to the nonsense spewed by the President on a regular basis. If you're having trouble with that, just refer to his various Covid related issues.

 

Don't know that Trump does a better job reading prepared public addresses, but he's certainly got a thing for putting passion over substance, fact, and truth. Day in day out. You're welcome to belittle, ignore or deny this.

 

As noted elsewhere, most senior politicians employ speech writers. Doubt you weren't aware of that.

When Trump is out of office...hopefully Jan 2021, someone needs to do some in-depth research into the minds of Trump supporters.  I can understand people who have something to gain, e.g., Fox News, those slimy Republicans in the Senate, coal barons, Putin, etc.  But to the rest, I just want to understand.  I tend to believe there is something seriously wrong with these people.
