The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Saturday (August 22) that an active monsoon trough lies across the North and the upper Northeast while the southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and Thailand.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the North with isolated heavy showers in the Northeast, the Central and the East. People should beware of the severe weather conditions that may cause flash floods and water runoff, the department cautioned.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:

North: Cloudy with thundershowers in 90 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy to very heavy rains; temperature lows of 23-25 degrees Celsius and highs of 28-33°C.

Northeast: Cloudy with thundershowers in 80 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 23-25°C and highs of 29-32°C.

Central: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-26°C, highs of 32-35°C.

East: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas and isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 24-27°C, highs of 30-32°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.

South (east coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 32-34°C; waves less than a metre high and a metre high during thundershowers.

South (west coast): Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-26°C, highs of 32-33°C; waves a metre high and two metres high during thundershowers.

Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 25-27°C, highs of 32-34°C.

This time of year is generally the wettest in Isaan so the "news" is hardly a surprise.

What is surprising is we have had very little rain despite all the warnings!

Prediction -  drought will be forecast when they get real with the weather "forecasting!

I would hazard a guess and say your not near Udon Thani? seems all the rain has been further south though not much seems to be making it into the reservoirs down there, TMD is usually pretty good considering the huge differentials they have to try and forecast for, this year the weather not playing ball with them! ????

Been raining almost every day in CM  this month .   Lots of showers at various times during the day,

and often at night.    No heavy storms as of yet .... which is ok .

I need to get up to the local reservoir near Doisaket to have a look .

All in all nice cool weather and clean air.......

Wettest August I've known.

Normally the sun comes out between torrential raining, I always get sunburn, but this year overcast all day, every day.

The cool weather is a welcome gift after the heat earlier in the year.  That being said the early morning chills of December and January could be done without. Many a December and January morning you will find me wearing a beany,  singlet,  T-shirt,  sweat Shirt and pants plus socks...well up till 9.30...10ish. ????

Lucky guys. Here in the Darkside city water is still low pressure and sometimes cut off, tiny rainshowers every now and then. Will turn into a desert in 2021 if we don't get weeks of heavy rains.
