The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that 10 provinces in the North are facing a flood crisis, with 7,830 homes affected, one person killed and two missing.

The Interior Ministry is evaluating damages to report to the Finance Ministry, so the latter can come up with a system of supporting people affected by floods in the future.

Chayabol Thitisak, the department’s director-general, said monsoon rains have been hitting many parts of Thailand since last Thursday.

The department is collaborating with the Army and local organisations to rescue flood victims and help move their belongings to higher ground.

Use to live near that office, and every time it rained there was this massive puddle that would form in the street next to their office.  Always thought it funny how they could not stop large amounts of water from forming around their office, but were suppose to be the ones saving Thailand from floods.

A spin off of the bunch who will be "mitigating" the deadly smog in a couple of months time?

Seems to be more mitigation than prevention... I guess getting 50% correct is better than nothing.
