I'm glad I'm not the only one to have noticed this.  The kid was giving himself up and immediately the speakers started blaring to get the hell out of the road.  The kid tried again with an armoured truck and was again instructed to get out of the way.  I suspect with the radios blaring and sense of urgency on the call the police didn't understand the significance of the kid standing in front of their vehicles.  The rifle wouldn't have made any difference to their reaction unless he was pointing it at them, and if he did that they would've slotted him there and then.  

 

On a personal note, I thought this kid showed great discipline and courage.  Had he remained on the ground any longer he would have been murdered there and then by the baying mob.  Not sure why a 17 year old boy has to pick up the slack for what the police should be doing, but there you go.

How could a decent familly let a 17 yo boy go to a protest with an automatic rifle? What a shame! Would any TVF poster allow their kids to do that?

 

How could decent cops welcome a teenager with a rifle to a protest? Why didn't they tell him to go back home and spend the night with his PlayStation?

It's a grey area but the kid wasn't necessarily breaking any laws by attending a protest with a semi-automatic rifle.  Not being argumentative but that's how it is.

In fairness, the police weren't doing much at all, other than being reactive rather than proactive.  

 

If the boy had had a handgun then the law is a little more clear, which is odd seeing as the long gun is far more lethal, in my opinion.  But, laws are laws and I'm not out to change the world but I do have a lot of respect for the lad.  I also come from a line of police officers - which stopped at me - but I'm all for upholding the law.

How the police who came into close contact with him prior to the shootings could not have recognized or at least questioned that he's a juvie is hard to fathom... Or maybe they did recognize, and just didn't care.

 

Now, if he had been a BLACK teenager with a rifle out amid the chaos, somehow I'm wondering if the local cops would have been passing out water bottles, or perhaps doing something else...

I asked the same questions earlier in this thread -- where was Mom when he was posting online videos assembling and shooting his rifles... and again... where was Mom when he was out late the other night and traveling 20+ miles away from home with his rifles and related gear?  Did she even know he was going out loaded?  And if so, what exactly did she think he was going to be up to?

Not only did police come in close contact, they handed out bottles of water to them and thanked them for being there.

 

Instead they should have been arrested for breaking curfew.

Did i read this correct, fired 7 shots and only 4 hit him?

 

He was literally 1 foot from him, blind freddy could have hit him. So the other 3 bullets could have hit his kids.

 

Thats some serious misjudgment of the danger.
