September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post More public holidays eyed in bid to boost economy By The Nation Wissanu Krea-ngam The Tourism and Sports Ministry is looking into the option of creating new public holidays in a bid to stimulate the economy, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Tuesday (September 15). The idea was first proposed by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha. Wissanu believes the additional days off will be added in November, because October already has several public holidays. He also said the extra days will tagged on to a weekend. “We will speak to the Tourism and Sports Ministry on whether these extra holidays should be added to the end of Buddhist Lent or Loy Krathong festival so people can go travelling,” he said. However, he added, the government is concerned that people may not have enough money to spend if additional public holidays are put in place later in the year. September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post How many more manufacturing jobs does Thailand have to lose, before someone wakes up and realize they are no longer competitive. In today's environment they can not afford even one.
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post If public holidays stimulated the economy, then I suggest cancelling work-days indefinitely.
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post What a ridiculous country this is. Little wonder in the real world it is only known for spicy food and lady boys.

September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post Another day and another stupid idea from the Minister of non Tourism. Maybe he should realise that all these public holidays are damaging to businesses and the weak economy.
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post Well it's my goldfishes birthday next week...let's have another 4 days holiday to celebrate that
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post This is the one and only plan they have: more public- holidays! Pathetic, really!
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post It’s the same mentality as bar owners raising prices when customer volume drops.... productivity and better wages stimulate the economy not more holidays.... I doubt schools will be refunding for less schooling...I am glad they value education....Usually more education means more learning....they have taken a different road.... At least loan sharks will benefit...

For the Citizens it often appears they have noted this suggestion. When I ask personnel working, they always seem to come from a neighboring country. Often seems hard to find Thai Citizens working in common labor positions. I think this has contributed to the down slide of hospitality within the country. Not saying the neighboring countries labor is poor, it's just doesn't carry the same soul that was once present within the nation; in 2000. We often assume they are Thai citizens, yet when asked they are not in most cases. Turns out Thai Citizens opt for the paid application positions, in the upper management or government slots. 100-200k and they get an application to apply, along with their University docs, they are set with a position for their remaining working years.
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post It is very sad to read so many officials spouting a lot of nonsense. Maybe good idea to look outside Thailand to recruit officials who can really help the country to weather the economic storm in a constructive and realistic way. No one seems to realise there will be no Foreign Tourist for the rest of this year and probably the next year. This will be reflected in stark economic facts that will have to be reported from the third quarter of 2020 onwards. Meanwhile no need to declare more public holidays as permanent holidays will become the new normal for so many

There is a simple mathematical equation for this that may help these incompetent fools dealing with stimulating the economy and no people having not enough money. And that is A minus B. Or 1-1=0
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post The only people who benefit from Public Holidays are civil servants. People working to put food on the table have to toil every day.
September 15, 20205 yr People are arguing about the percentage of Thailand's GDP to be attributed to domestic tourism. Numbers between 5% and 11% are thrown about. Is the real number above 50%? As this minister seems to suggest. Edited September 15, 20205 yr by androokery
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post ...and to think that the people who come up with these ridiculous suggestions are all getting paid for doing so...and some of them probably pretty well paid too.

What kind of drugs are these stupid people on. If you want to stimulate the economy then print some fracking money and give each person 10,000 baht every month until this virus blows over and you create jobs and industries for them. How moronic and full of lunacy, but what can be expected from nothing but Military men who know no better.
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post It will not stimulate my economy, 105 of my staff to get another day off from the ministry of fools, paid by me!
September 15, 20205 yr If holidays are so good for the economy why not make every day of the year a holiday?
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post My Wife's job working for a UK company is in peril because of all the Holidays here in Thailand. Production stops and orders go unfilled as boat shipments get missed. If this keeps up, Thai Exports will be history.
September 15, 20205 yr So the economy is hurting. People are having trouble putting food on the table, paying school expenses and the such. How to make things better? More holidays. The only problem is the people have no money to travel. This extra holiday <deleted> is nothing but whimsy. One of the things the youth are beginning to protest about. Damn. The rich dinosaurs are just so far out of contact even with the hard working upper and middle income earners.
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post Interesting, the UK and US are pushing "get back to work to kick start the economy" and Thailand is pushing "more holidays to kick start the economy".
September 15, 20205 yr Popular Post 2 hours ago, webfact said: More public holidays eyed in bid to boost economy It’s all nice and dandy to have more public holidays, but what good are those if no one has a dime to spend? People are struggling to pay their bills as it is, so I don’t see many of them going out to stay at resorts and spending tons of money.
September 15, 20205 yr I think that the main thing they need to look at is getting a job market that is based on business.
September 15, 20205 yr Never fix problems at the root. Party on. This country gets better every single day ????. Not.
