Thailand's sex workers petition to decriminalise prostitution

BANGKOK (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Sex workers in Thailand have launched a petition calling for prostitution to be decriminalised and urging authorities to remove all penalties for selling and buying sex.

Exim Bank denies hand in suspicious financial transactions

Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) is in the process of verifying a report, by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), that four Thai banks have been involved in suspicious financial transactions, worth about 41.31 billion baht, over nearly two decades.

Electricity, water subsidies to be extended for another year

Phuket Immigration handing out ‘conditional’ 14 day visas, pending investigations

Confusion reigns. It was predictable and many people, despite months of warnings, have left their visa extensions to the last minute. Meanwhile Thai immigration don’t appear to be making the process easy as The Thaiger has received multiple comments from foreigners visiting the various immigration offices around the country and encountering ‘local’ applications of the published guidelines and, in some cases, demands for additional paperwork.

USFDA grants Thai bureau accreditation status on 4 more aspects of food manufacturing

The United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has certified Thailand's National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards (ACFS) as an accreditation agency for four additional aspects of food manufacturing, secretary-general Juadee Pongmaneerat said.
