I went today to Chaeng Wattana for a 60 day marriage extension for my multi-entry marriage visa that expires in November this year.

After 6 hours of waiting in queues and 2 separate officers checking all my papers and clearing me, during the final moments of getting the visa, apparently they won't give it to me because my wife's tabien baan is in Pathum Thani.

I immediately went to Pathum Thani immigration, where they commented that my arrival card doesn't have a stamp, that i need an embassy letter, photos with wife, bank. Looked like they had no idea about the extension, treated me as if I was asking for a 1yr extension.

What are my options?

Try other immigrations, Nonthaburi? Muang Thong Thani? feels like lottery, with different requirements luck and people every time.

Can I go to another place such as Singapore and return after 1 day ? will that work ? (since the visa expires in NOV)

Very upsetting day. Advice would be helpful.

Do you live in Pathum Thani? You have to apply for the extension at the office where you are living.

You cannot pick and choose the office you use.

Maybe they really did think you wanted a one year extension. Perhaps show them the requirements here by clicking number 24 (it can be changed to Thai by clicking  the Thai flag at the top of the page). https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14714

It is strange your TM6 card did not have a entry stamp on the back of it. Where did you last enter the country.

If you able to fly anywhere you would have a long wait to return since you can only enter the country if you have a certificate of entry issued by a Thai embassy or official consulate. And then go into a 14 day quarantine after arriving at a hotel the is a alternate state quarantine location.

Thanks for the reply ubonjoe.

We live in Nonthaburi, but I don't know, officially, technically I suppose I live with my wife in Pathum Thani since that's where her tabien baan places her? I have no idea.

I entered in Suvarnabhumi, entirely possible I lost the original card and I found another one, might be my fault..

The application clearly said 60 days on the front page.....not sure how to proceed. I go back to Pathum Thani immigration and try to teach them about their job? not sure how successful that will be.

I think that's harsh. You previously were using ME marriage obtained outside of Thailand. With border bounces you may not had reason to deal with immigration.

Your description of where you live and your reply "We live in Nonthanburi, but I don't know officially......"

I deal with CW immigration, Bangkok (for example) and that means any immigration business needs to be done at that office.

I guess it is what it is.

Your applying for 60 day extension to visit wife. Normally simple process. Think I read yesterday thread of the start of your issues I obtaining extension.

In that thread (if I'm correct) io was asking for docs that are required for annual extension (marriage), which you are not.

You need you address in system with one immigration office. Might be as simple as a TM30.

Next is that seems to be issue with your TM6. I have never had an unstamped tm6 and previously I entered Thailand every month. You may just have a random tm6 form not related to your most recently.

I'm bit surprised, but again not, that immigration didn't give you advice what you need to do. Sounds like they were unhelpful.

Where your wife is registered is not the point, as already pointed out you apply at the Immigration office covering the area you live. Some proof that you do actually live at the address you claim may be needed.

As you stated you do not live in Pathum Thani refusing the extension was doing their job correctly.

Apply at the immigration office where you and your wife reside and have a fixed abode and proof of address such as a rental agreement.

Would that be Nonthaburi?

Can you get an embassy letter?

For your TM6 card, if you lost it you may be able to get a police report at a police station so you have something to cover that.

Would that work??
they wrote Pathum Thani above my visa
It would be easy to prove I live at the Nonthaburi address. Is that relevant for this issue?

Just out of interest, was your wife with you at the time?

Yes

OP, just to add...,if you intend to move to annual extension from your 60 day extension, you really need to deal with immigration where your living as those annual extensions can involve home visit etc. Side note does where you live deal with  Nonthanburi immigration or CW?

Seems very late to get some letter at this point.

yes Nonthaburi, and I can show the relevant documents. Might be worth a try tomorrow I guess

You should use your address in Nonthaburi and use the office there. Your wife's tambien baan registry does not mean she is living there. You certainly do not have to apply where it is for.

Do you have proof of residence for where you are living in Nonthaburi. Normally that is a rental agreement with copies of the owners house book and ID card attached signed by them. You may also need a TM30 if one has not been done to report your residence there.

Is the copy of the TM6 the one for your last entry to the country. If not you may need to get a new one.

What?

How did you happen to find another one?

Anyway, good luck.  Hope you get it all sorted in time.

If you are British you could apply for the letter this evening explaining your circumstances and the urgency. Someone mentioned getting a letter in 24hrs. It may help.

Yes, give Nonthaburi a try tomorrow.

Yes, give Nonthaburi a try.

Good advice.

There is current thread today a German fella got his 30 day extension at MTT WITHOUT embassy letter.

My thoughts are the OP should go to Nonthanburi early ask what they required and if not possible ask/beg for the 30. They can see his intentions.

Sadly from many reports I have read in the past that office is prickly.

For your information and for writing your address on the extension application form, Bang Rak Yai is in Bang Bua Thong district in Nonthaburi province. Therefore, it is indeed the Nonthaburi immigration where you must submit your application.
