Alcohol, drugs, fatigue, vanity, diverted attention and good ol' stupidity are the main culprits of such occurrences...

You left out the main 2 culprits, lack of driver education, lack of care by government

A young man's just been killed in an horrific car crash and the topic of conversation is focused on the speedo and if or not the car could go that fast ?    Just shows you where humanity's at doesn't it......

If you live in Thailand and witness daily Thailand's standard of driving and utter stupidity at times you rapidly become immune to all the road carnage, you reap what you sow.......

Speedometers are driven electrically nowadays. No more speedo cables.

During the accident, one side of the power feed to the instrument could have been dislodged and the motor driven hard one way. Looking at the photograph, that does seem to be the case.

The inertia/G force on impact could also have caused this and with the rev counter stuck at 51,000 when at this speed it would be in the red. How did he end up in the back of the car is what i can't fathom.

They dont know what happened or they do, your statement is contradictory.

What are the options of what happened on that rainy day in a dangerous curve where people need to slow down and he crashed his car with nobody around?

List all the options, add a likelihood to each and everyone of them, and add the ones where he was at fault up.

You probably end up with a % of 95% or higher.

From the pics, looks like its the Altis 2 generations back. Most probably the needle was stuck at max 240km/h.

Only the 2,000cc model is capable of doing over 200km/h stock, most are 1,600 or 1,800 out there.

Its suicide over the curves with a C seg Japanese car. The thin tires would not make it.
