The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration reported one new case in a state quarantine facility over a 24-hour period on Sunday.

A 24-year-old asymptomatic male student, who had returned from the United States on September 22, tested positive on September 25 at a state quarantine facility in Chonburi.

The total number of confirmed cases in Thailand increased to 3,523 (585 in state quarantine), of whom 97 are in hospital and 3,367 have recovered and been discharged, while the death toll remains 59.

According to Worldometer, as of 10 am on Sunday, the total number of confirmed global cases had increased to 33 million (up by 294,650 over a 24-hour period), 24.4 million have recovered, 7.94 million are active cases (65,331 in serious condition) and 998,716 have died.

Thailand ranks 138th for most cases in the world, while the US has the most number with 7.28 million, followed by India 5.99 million, Brazil 4.71 million, Russia 1.14 million and Colombia 806,038

The CCSA also reported on infection numbers in Myanmar. On September 26 (8.30pm), there were 880 cases and 24 deaths, bringing the total number of cumulative cases to 9,901, with 7,112 active cases and 198 deaths.

Yes, if they test enough, they will find cases, at least in cities.  But they would have to test far more than 100 - 1000 people and it would be a very expensive undertaking.

We can tell from the absence of severe cases (which would appear in hospitals) that the total number of cases so far remains low. And testing that has been done in the wake of cases (e.g. in Rayong and then contacts of the Bangkok DJ)  turned up no infections.

They'd have to test in the tens of thousands in Bangkok and even more upcountry which makes no sense to do.

You are ruining the narrative of the covid deniers.  Thank you.

Why is this news?  Why does the media need to report on infections ... deaths I understand but infections?

They sensationally  report the infections to keep fear levels high ?

My guess is that there are many asymptomatic carriers within the Thai community and the authorities would probably have that awareness, that's fine if the carriers are being told (quietly) to quarantine, but ultimately very dangerous if they dont. It bugs me big time that these media outlets only report farang that have Covid, it's extreme Xenophobia and just makes the Thai population think poorly of farang and be suspicious that they are all Covid carriers. The Government and their media cronies should get smart and be aware that without farang money Thailand will suffer economic gloom for many many years to come. Unless of course this Government has already sold it's soul to the Chinese and believes they no longer need Western retirees and tourists, only time and actions will tell.

I have to wonder if it is asymptomatic or a false positive test. How many are asymptomatic? Maybe the wave won't be so bad if a lot of this asymptomatic is wide spread.
