I've lived in the same house for the last ten years and have never done a TM30 in spite of travelling abroad regularly. A few months back I needed to get a residence certificate at Jomtien Immigration. I've had several of these in the past with no problems, to buy a car and motorbike and so on. This time I was told that I must have done a TM30 before a residence certificate can be issued, so it's not only required when you change address you need to have done one one (at least in Jomtien) for other things too.

Is a new TM30 needed if I go away for a few days and stay at a hotel then come back home?

See Ubonjoe's post above:

"After doing the first one another one is not needed unless you change your address."

That is a Jomtien requirement and is a carry over from before the they issued a new regulation that went into effect on June 30th.

This is what I wrote before.

If you have never done one they could ask for one.

tt is the same for me since I have never been asked for one due to never meeting the local offices requirements to do one.

The following 90 days reports are a verification you're staying at the last reported address.

My home address ( Yellow Book ) is Pattaya/Darkside.

I am regularly a few months in Thonglor/Bangkok.
If my 90 days report occur when I am in Thonglor, I still put my home address.

I do my 90 days report on line.

What it says in the rule book means nothing because as I found out 3 weeks ago that it is up to the individual IO on whether a TM30 is required or not. I have not changed address since we bought this house 2 1/2 years ago but the IO asked for a TM30 3 weeks ago when I applied for an extension and there was a TM30 receipt in my passport.

Did you get your extension ok?
