Pattaya: Another little girl savaged by soi dog: "Do something" mum pleads - they're breeding fast

Nong Prue municipality official Wanchai Saenngam went to Soi Patanakan 15 to meet a distraught mother. 

 

Patcharin, 32, was cradling her four year old daughter Rawadee who had seven stitches.

 

The mother said that she was taking her little one to her K1 class when a soi dog ran up and attacked her cheek.

 

There was a lot of blood in the vicious attack. 

 

She implored the official to get rid of an ever increasing pack of dogs in the area. 

 

Wanchai said he would act fast.

Well lets hope so   by removing the mangy mongrel's and if more come to take their place remove those too

and continue to remove them until the job is done.

 

Acting fast will probably be rounding up a few- and dumping them somewhere else, seems to be the norm here. Any dog attacking a human should be immediately put down, no question.

The mayor should have fixed this problem in stead of 100 million on Bali hai  . Thai people and children have to fend for themselves . It’s the Thai way thing . I am a foriener but I feel sorry for Thai people 

This is the second recent reported incidence on TV.

My village area seems to have more dogs than several months back. Is this repeated in many places?

There seems to be a few more round my area since the Wuflu debacle started , I think quite a few may have  been left behind after the "owner"  lost their jobs and went home  to the "sticks"

 

Thailand needs to change. 

All dogs need  shots and collars with collars on and  tags of proof.   No free roaming dogs allowed.  Kill all these wild ones now.

Few weeks ago at night I counted 21 hanging about at the entrance to our moo bahan, imagine trying to go for a walk past them!

And there are likely to be many such incidences every day across Thailand  which never get to become a news item.

Due to the fear of rabies  most victims  get hospital treatment and shots so it would not be  difficult to set up a  compulsory register of dog related treatments  from hospitals nationwide.

Perhaps the data would change some  official  attitudes!

 

There is a very simple nation-wide solution to this nation-wide problem.

 

Cull all stray dogs and any dog which is not restrained on someones property with clear identification tags. 

 

There is no need for the decision makers to by hypocritical and make a farce out of this issue by hiding behind Buddhism.  

 

People won’t like it - but a hard choice needs to be made. The hard choice prevents further suffering down the line for future generations of deceased mongrels. 

 

Developed nations do not allow stray dogs to roam the streets for a reason - Thailand can very easily do the same if only those in positions of decision making power cared enough, or rather were forced to care enough.

It's the final nail in Thailand's coffin for me.The dogs spoil the experience,knowing that there will be even more will definitely mean I won't be back.

I have the feeling they would rather remove the people from the Sois than the Soi dogs. Got bitten once in the middle of Pattaya when I left a 7-Eleven. The dog was lying in front of the door. 

Another sad story. I'm totally scared of the dogs in Thailand. I try to acting strong but my heart is pounding like I was running a marathon when I see them. I wish I could take a walk to explore my town at night but it isn't possible. Maybe I'm overreacting but if you has to pass them it isn't funny at all and they are in every Soi in my town. I don't judge the dogs because they never learned how to behave. They're more or less wild animals but Thailand has to do something about them. 

Almost all Thai want haddle this problem, and nobody has any issue to kill soi dogs!

Buddhism or not, problem is its agains law to kill those ! So chance the law!

From the end of beach road in Na Jomtien, starting after Pu Pen until the Police Station and going up Soi 4 to Sukhumvit, the whole area is extremely populated by Soi dogs. This at least provoked a test of our cars ABS (works !) to avoid collision with a suicidal one once in the evening.

 

They linger around in front of Family Marts, 7/11s and nobody seems to care. I am actually sorry for these animals but feel at the same time that this is a situation that cannot be left as is.

Yes, best to form a committee to discuss this problem as fast as possible.

Offer a bounty and all of pattaya will be clean of soi dogs in a day. Just inform people beforehand to keep their pets inside.

They have actually put a sign up there saying not to feed the animals

not that it will make any difference the dogs beg for scraps from the restaurants big increase in numbers there since the virus debacle.

I agree, I went to Pattaya City Hall after I was bitten, had a meeting with the top guy whose responsible with a couple of side kicks, they feigned interest and did FA, dog is still there last time I passed. They just don't take the problem seriously. Maybe time for people to take it into their own hands

I just moved house because there was about 40 dogs within 100 meters of my home , non when I moved in 2 years before 

Need to move the dogs ,a few at a time to where the headman lives , see how quick the problem will be resolved

Place some chicken and rice, & dog treats outside his gate, then see what happens..

It will probably get to that point.  Just wondering, what would be the charge, and sentence, for farang killing a soi dog?  Anyone know of any precedent for this?  For sure there will be extortion money to pay.  

 

I seem to remember some drug crazed farang stabbing or beating a dog some time ago.  Don't know what happened to him.  

There was an aggressive soi dog around place I was staying in Pattaya last year.  One night he took a run at me when I was carrying bags of groceries.  I got to the door of apartment building, put down groceries, grabbed a broom and went after him.  I got him cornered and beat the living tar out of him while hollering loudly that if this dog tried to bite me again I would break its' neck.  Oddly enough, I didn't see him for over a month, which showed that most of them are, in fact, owned by someone.  Kind of expected the cops to come after doing that, but nothing happened.  After that, when I did see that dog, he gave me a wide berth!  

 

Yes, any dog living on the street should be culled out of mercy and I would be happy to help because I think it is a big problem.  Grew up on a farm and am not afraid of doing what is unpleasant but necessary.

Nothing will be done, these savage dog attacks don't happen on military bases, don't happen to HiSo children. Not seen as a problem by those in charge. 

A couple years ago I was staying at a place in Thailand near the ocean, I had 3 soi dogs chase

me out of a new housing development that was sitting idle. I went to a hardware type store and bought supplies, and some cheap meat at a market, then went back and fed the dogs and seen where they

slept, so left them some dog chews as well. I went back 3 days later and they were all right where

I had seen them last. I drug them into the near by woods where the forest creatures took care of

them and my own problem was solved. Thailand has way to many stray dogs for anyone to feel

that just spaying and neutering them all will be the correct way to end the over population of

dogs.
