Storing cakes

Featured Replies

Since purchasing a decent sized oven this year we have become master cake bakers.

One problem, storing the things.

Has anyone seen any kind of round plastic airtight food boxes?

Where have you been looking?

Tesco, HomePro, Global House, Lazada etc. all have various shapes and sizes of container with sealed lids.

What sort of sizes are you looking for?

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Loads in Tesco & Makro, or I use emptied biscuit tins. They don't need to be round if your cake is square.

I am a master baker myself and always seem to find somewhere to put my product!   LOL

All the cheap plastic shops have them as well.

Cake sized!  LOL

how long do you need to store them?
you can freeze sponges
you can also vac-pack sponges

decorated cakes obviously need a bigger container, which may be what you want
but "larger oven" implies you are cooking quite a few, hence my suggestions above

Sorry - should have been more specific ..

Has anyone seen any of these for sale?

Square cakes?  I have round tins, I guess I could cut the slides down and jam them into a sandwich box.

Thanks - it was more for keeping on the shelf and eating. Yes, we usually make some sweet sticky decorated cake, so I was looking for a decent sized air tight container to take a round 9” cake.

Anyway, found now, thanks
