“At 3pm - Please be ready at BTS skytrain station near your house” It seems protesters may use the same strategy they used yesterday - get people to every sky try station before announcing protest sites #ม็อบ18ตุลา #WhatsHappeningInThailand

When I read the news this morning my first thought was ' The protestors are winning this & the Dinosaurs are running scared.   More power to the youngun's elbows.

  • Totally disagree with you, it is slowly growing, and soon the whole country will be involved. Your idol and his cronies have already shown that they are running scared with this mornings announce

The army desperados think this will stifle dissent. I doubt it will. They are so despised at this point, this draconian move will only make things worse.   And in addition, this will stifle

Don’t worry. Thaivisa just uploaded a story ‘2 hours ago’ about how the BTS will be closed from 3pm yesterday.

No need to look anywhere else for your latest Thai news.

The 2 Ps must be permanently on their potties as this weekend progresses

Time to do a runner  At this rate there maybe Thai charter flights out of the country to deal with the exodus.

United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration movement is calling for supporters to gather at BTS stations across Bangkok at 3PM, derail of the protest site to follow. #whatishaooenninginThailand #ThailandProtest2020

Tick tock, tick tock.

The most graphic images of police brutality towards the protesters are to be found on TikTok Thailand.

Same as my GF, Having to take a Taxi home from down in Bang Na.  Yesterday she spent 140 baht to get home because she had the driver take the toll way.  Would have cost her 64 Baht between BTS and MRT.  Good thing she makes more than 300 Baht per day, as a hair colorist.  Hate to see what those poor folks who are making a meager living are having to do.  I walked the 6 KM home from Terminal 21 yesterday since the MRT was closed, at least I got a little bit of exercise since I did not run in Lumpini Park in the morning due to rain.

I am almost certain that I would make a LOT of money if I bet on what i think the outcome of all this was going to be.

But i have ethics that would not allow me to bet against something I feel is right.

UPDATE: The main protest site will be at Victory Monument. However, there will also be a secondary site at Asoke on Sukhumwit Road.

Looking at a sea of protesters here on youtube live, old Canute springs to mind, given the metaphor. I must say, it's all quite atmospheric, given the cutting between the crowd, individuals, and the trains running overhead. The abundance of cute girls doesn't hurt either.

finally they are out in numbers - are the numbers growing ?

Not much coverage but on voice tv, large crowd at Victory Monument all afternoon, some will be moaning about not being able to get a bus ????

I see a live stream from victory monument on a certain FB page had 25 K viewers 10 minutes ago, and 7K now. Looks like they are blocking access to the stream or not?

Demonstration is winding down. Finishing at 8 p.m. Or maybe that's just Asok?

The government overplayed their hand. I'd put all this down to the banning of the FFP. I'm guessing they're a few guys regretting that decision, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

There is a private facebook protest group with nearly 2 million members, expect desperate attempts will be made to have that closed.

Whatever they added to that water spray is sure making things grow!

Wow, it's still pretty amazing here on youtube. A Thai flag being flown in the middle of the crowd. Where are the yellow shirts? I'm guessing their misappropriation of that symbol is well and truly dead.

Every demonstration of any shade or colour that I've seen in Thailand has people carrying the Thai flag.

There are messages going around the crowd now telling them which motorcycle wins to avoid on the way home because they're run by army officers or their relatives. ????

Doesn’t matter. As soon as it’s shut down, a new one is opened up again.

It takes a lot of time and effort from the junta to have these pages closed. New ones are easily opened again in minutes.

It's time for a new Baghwan.

What's wrong with that? It's about the country they want to save from more damage done by the Army guys.

All they want is a democracy, and what do they get? They extended the laws that people cannot stand in groups and other rubbish that shouldn't be allowed.

That's against all human rights, and they should be ashamed. People disappear for ever and never show up again.

Unfortunately, they can do whatever they like, which is why you don't see hundreds of thousands of demonstrators. Let's hope that there'll be some major changes soon.

Nothing wrong with that. I was just replying to someone suggesting it was something only the yellowshirts did.

I think it was a few things on top of that. There has been a lot of anger after the Thai activist dissappeared in Cambodia. The, in my opinion, cold reaction from the government triggered things to escalate.

My wife is a royalist and staunch yellow shirt, she is full of conspiracy about USA funding - NED - Thai Lawyers for Human Rights - etc. but these demonstrations would never have occured if it wasnt for the actions of the government. Also the actions of the big fella.

I was wondering what the next move would be, now I know, Voice TV, among others, banned. Not really unexpected, I was pretty bloody surprised they allowed those live broadcasts to continue for so long

The Sun livefeed seems to have gone too after being suddenly cut the other night. Not easy for them to cut TikTok though.
