When I read the news this morning my first thought was ' The protestors are winning this & the Dinosaurs are running scared.   More power to the youngun's elbows.

  • Totally disagree with you, it is slowly growing, and soon the whole country will be involved. Your idol and his cronies have already shown that they are running scared with this mornings announce

The army desperados think this will stifle dissent. I doubt it will. They are so despised at this point, this draconian move will only make things worse.   And in addition, this will stifle

I could continue, but the worlds eyes are on Thailand as we speak tonight.  Can not hide from what is happening here and I think this Government is finally waking up to the fact that they are on the world stage.

Wonderful to see various sites in Bangkok and plenty of other cities fill up with thousands of protestors. They want one thing: a just country with democracy.  Let's hope they will get what they want. Uncle needs to go and give the country back to the people.

Todays rehearsal just finished at Lat Phrao.

Protestors are now leaving.........peacefully.

Any violence is not coming from them.

Expect equally effective (thanks to the government) pop-up shutdowns to recurr.

"Rehearsal" steven100.......Rehearsal.

Khun Prayut Chan O Cha has extensive support from his colleagues within the military. He has always had support from various Thai representatives as well, and not forgetting his Thai civilian support which is millions. Not everyone in Thailand agrees with protests, roadblocks, anarchy, mayhem and lawlessness and so not everyone wants problems. Thailand has enough problems with the economy as it is, so protests certainly won't go down well with many Thais.

He will be in charge for many years to come. Lets hope so.

Had the Police shown up then it would have lasted longer than it did.  Point has been made.  Governments lack of a response shows that they have acquiesced at least a little.  Lets see what the Government response to tonight's bailiwick is in the morning.

If you're talking about what happened last night, that took place after the protestors had started, of their own volition, to disperse, with the police aggressing against a small group of diehards who wanted to "hold the line".

As evidenced by interviews today many of todays protestors (who did not take part yesterday) took part, and will do so in future, because of how they saw the police behave last night.

They were more prepared for greater violence tonight but, as I said, today has been a rehearsal.......which went very well.

Expats know tin pot leaders don't last long one way or another especially when they start using violence and imprisonment to cling on ????????

The police are conspicuous by their absence tonight!

They’re done at Lad Prao/Chatuchak. A 4 hour occupation and the police stayed away, avoiding dramatic scenes of last night.

Indeed, they're screwed. That was their last stasi type attempt to restore order. They could order the tanks in I suppose, but I doubt soldiers would obey orders.

Quite clever the way he keeps his motorbike parking ticket clipped to his medals though - must be to stop him losing it!

Glad they did, but it is interesting.  Must be a lot of power plays going on now.

3 police sacked on Thursday for not doing their duty, and the whole force given the day off today. King still thinks Thailand should not change, Prawit given overall control, but the army not yet apparent.  Prayuth gave a speech warning that anyone could die at any moment and that he can not understand why people are cross because he has not done nothing wrong.

It is because he is really truly and invariably clueless. Imho

Crazy scenes on youtube. Ne'er a yellow shirt in sight. Oh, the good old days, when Thailand was united. Big mistake if you ask me. These 5%ers have totally screwed over the country - "You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”

He's already given the country back,he gave it back to his people! The rest can have the crumbs.

IMHO, the police won't do nothing, last night was the last gasp of a failing regime. We'll see.
