A picture paints a thousand words. Mine shows 100,000 protesters.

Looking at the updated pictures tonight from various locations, I would certainly estimate the number to be well in excess of 100,000

When I read the news this morning my first thought was ' The protestors are winning this & the Dinosaurs are running scared.   More power to the youngun's elbows.

  • Totally disagree with you, it is slowly growing, and soon the whole country will be involved. Your idol and his cronies have already shown that they are running scared with this mornings announce

The army desperados think this will stifle dissent. I doubt it will. They are so despised at this point, this draconian move will only make things worse.   And in addition, this will stifle

URGENT: MRT has just announced that they have closed ALL of their stations across #Bangkok on the Blue Line. At the moment, the Purple Line, ARL and BTS are operating as normal. This is due to the planned #ม็อบ17ตุลา protest at train stations at 3pm #Thailand

Isn’t it ironic that the preventive measures by the Thai government to stop the #ม็อบ17ตุลา taking place is leading to a #BangkokShutdown? Like yesterday they closed major roads which forced shopping malls to close. Now it looks like the rail system in #Bangkok will shutdown too.

I was expecting this today but your confirmation is evidence.  good ..... thank you.

A bit late in the day but my apologies, I got that one totally wrong.

An annoyed Richard Barrow! He’s right. It’s an absurd overreaction and only makes the Thai authorities look weak and panicky in the face of a movement mostly of teenagers and people in their 20s.

The Thai government has ordered the complete shutdown of the electric train network in #Bangkok in anticipation that there MIGHT be a #ม็อบ17ตุลา protest rally SOMEWHERE in the capital. No BTS or MRT trains running. This #BangkokShutdown wasn’t done by the protesters #Thailand

Easily in excess, as well as the other locations throughout the country like in khon Kaen.  But then Steven said it would not happen.  Oops sorry to burst your bubble, but you were wrong on all accounts and the future is moving forward...get the pun.

And yet it did not work, the protestors did an end around and now the Government really has egg on it's face, and they have also disenfranchised those who wanted to stay out of the fray, but the Government dragged them into it anyway.

I posted this in another Op regarding the Governments heavy handedness and now infringing on the rights of all people including foreigners who rely on transport in the capital.

Nor did banning the future forward party, the thing the protesters have the advantage of over the government is that they are far more intelligent

Thailand’s PM tells police to avoid violent means to deal with protesters

i am pretty sure he had his fingers crossed....

Here is how this is going to end:

A resurgence (real or not) of covid 19 cases is going to "force" the government to reintroduce lockdowns, curfew and the whole shebang...

Yet, if they do call for it, I do not feel it will be of any help as people will feel it is a charade in light of the way the Government has portrayed Covid success already.  The chicken littles and the boy crying wolf will never be believed.

nonsense ..... the government will act accordingly and this will be over within an acceptable time frame.

You really think the government & Gen Khun Prayut Chan O Cha will step down because of a bunch of school students and others edging them on. I seriously doubt it, but I'm always welcome to your sensible comments so lets see what develops.   thx

Prayute announced to the world that Thailand is a democracy and is now doing a Thai style flip flop and proving it isn't really and that it was all a misunderstanding but the eyes of the world are on him and his mates. They should have gone with Steven's "flowers and chocolate" idea.

You need to look a little harder Steven.  Khon Kaen has many people at a location, thousands in fact as well as Pattaya and Udon Thani, and many others.  Do not think that it is only happening here in Bangkok.

I'll say this, having lived here for 10 years plus, you never get bored in Thailand, always something going on - coups, floods, tsunamis, Boss, student protests, etc., etc. It's great as an observer, as a participant perhaps not so good. Not my fight, probably should go home and involve myself in something meaningful to me. But I've pretty much given up on that shower of nincompoops. I'll tell you one thing, Thailand, as a microcosm of what's going on back home is rather enlightening.

Not seeing much in the way of police out in force tonight trying to defuse the protests and send them home now.  Looks to me like they are settling in.  Unless the Military rumbles in, they are going to be in place.  The Government official on television right now is telling the public to avoid the 5 major Areas and to use alternate routes to get around Bangkok as the roads will be closed for a long time and they have no intention on moving in.  That is the abbreviated version.

it's a bunch of school students then, not the mass of the Thai population. Thanks for that, I'll sleep easier in my bed.
