Extra disabled persons welfare credit available today

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Comptroller General’s Department today deposited an additional 200 baht in the accounts of persons with disabilities aged 18 years or older who are holders of state welfare cards, effectively increasing the monthly welfare payment to 1,000 baht from now on.

ABUJA/LAGOS (Reuters) - Nigeria's police chief ordered the immediate mobilisation of all force resources on Saturday to try to control the worst street violence in Africa's most populous country in two decades stemming from protests against police brutality.

KABUL (Reuters) - A suicide bombing at an education centre in Afghanistan's capital Kabul killed at least 18 people including teenage students and wounded dozens more on Saturday, officials said.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Anti-government protesters in Thailand said on Saturday they would hold demonstrations on Sunday and Monday after Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha ignored their 10 p.m. (0300 GMT) deadline to resign.

The week that was in Thailand news: “Ngong pai mot”: Don’t worry, being confused is part of living in Thailand

Thailand seemed to be having an identity crisis this week. Add to that the fact that every government ministry, department and even spokesman is going off on their own never converging tangent. It leaves the rest of us in a state of utter confusion and reminds me of a word I always taught my foreign Thai language students.
