cliveshep Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 Can you answer this one please UbonJoe, or anyone else knowledgeable? Facts only though please, not supposition. My 1 yr extension is due for renewal on 5th April 2021. So I would need to present my documents around end of February/beginning of March - 5 weeks beforehand. Can I risk presenting them 4 weeks before is first question. The reason is related to the 2nd question. 2nd question is - They demand bank statements etc showing funds of 400,000 for 3 months, and then demand to show them 400,000 is still in the bank 5 weeks later when I go to get my passport stamped. Or at least they did this last year for the first time. So they are effectively demanding the 400,000 be in the bank for 4 months plus. Is that correct or is it actually 2 months on submitting the papers and the 3rd month on getting the extension stamp? Reason is I would ideally like to borrow some of that 400,000 and pay it back in early December which would be fine on 2 months but cutting it very fine on 3 months. Thanks Ubonjoe or anyone else who has a correct answer.
ubonjoe Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 You can apply up to 30 days early or 45 days at some offices. You can do on it on the last day of your current extension if you wanted to. The 400k baht needs to be in the bank for 2 months on the day you apply for the extension. Then some offices will want to see your updated bank book to prove the 400k bahat is still in the bank when you return to get your extension stamp near the end of the 30 day under consideration period. 2
uncleP Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 You present your documents the day your visa finishes not two months before. The two months for your 400k is two months before that. They will like to see the 400k still there when you get your visa a month later. An agent gets you around having the 400k

Do you know if Ubon imm. needs to look at the bank book again on completion of an extension....?

fishtank Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 As said, apply within the last 30 days of your stay or 45 days at some offices. Always a good idea to go early in case of problems. Money in the bank for 2 months before application. 1
cliveshep Posted November 2, 2020 Author Posted November 2, 2020 Thanks for your answers folks. Please bear with me and forgive paranoia but some places say money in bank 3 months and others 2 months. This will not be my 1st extension but my 6th and I asked because for the first time last year they asked for proof on collecting the stamp after the 30 day "under consideration" period. Before then we always had the money in the account for 3 months on the date we applied. They never asked for that proof 30 days later! So it is definitely correct 2 months on date of application, 3 months on collection of stamp?

Some offices just decide to make it a blanket 3 months. Some want the 400,000 in so you show when you get the extension stamp. Basically you just have to go with what they ask for. I don't think it's worth 'telling' them the rules, that would only cause you problems.

I has been 2 months on the date you apply for over a decades. Then at the end of the under consideration period at some offices. 1

Again that depends on the office and I wouldn't demand they go with what I tell them. Why give yourself more headaches than you need. ????
ilms Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 One thing is the law/statute and another is how each IO decides to apply it. Go by what your local IO says and if at all possible, don't give them any reason to reject your application or create obstacles for you.
