Europe lockdowns could shrink Thai economy another 0.5%: private sector

The private sector is worried that renewed lockdowns in Europe could see the Thai economy shrink by another 0.37 to 0.5 per cent in the fourth quarter, according to the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking on Wednesday.

AMMAN (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al Assad said billions of dollars of deposits held by his countrymen in Lebanon's financial sector that were blocked after a major financial crisis were a main cause of Syria's deepening economic crisis.Lebanese banks, fearing capital flight and grappling with an acute hard currency crunch, have since last year imposed tight controls on withdrawals and transfers abroad, drawing outrage from local and foreign depositors unable to access their savings.

NHSO coming out with smart ID cards to cure gold-card fraud

The National Health Security Office (NHSO) is planning to pilot the use of smart ID cards in conjunction with gold cards under its national healthcare scheme to prevent fraud by those who are not covered under the scheme but use another person’s gold card, secretary-general Sakchai Kanjanawatana said on Wednesday.

Rice exports likely to drop 50% this year, situation could even worsen in 2021

Taiwanese ringleader gets FIFTY years jail in Eagle Gates Group ponzi scheme fraud

A deputy at the Department of Special Investigations has revealed that a judgement of the criminal court has handed down a sentence of 50 years to a Taiwanese national convicted of fraud in the Eagle Gates Group ponzi (pyramid) scheme fraud.

Universities to play greater community development role in new campaign
