I guess it is a difference in cultures.  I know the U.S.A. representatives would often express frustration with negotiating with various Asian cultures in that they tended to drag things out and never provide straight responses.

This seems to be common here in Thailand and is the source of frustration numerous times.  Here are a couple of recent ones, maybe you can share similar stories.

Me: Do you do doctor examination and how much
Response: Yes
Me; What is the price
Response 1.000 - 3500

Me what is the difference
Response 2,500 baht
Me Yes but one is more expensive, why
Response 1,000 for screening
Me What is screening
Response 1,000 baht

Me I see you carry two different models with drastically different prices, what is the difference
Response One is 3,500 baht the other 1,500 baht
Me Yes I see the price difference, but what is the difference in the product
Response They from two different companies
Me Yes I see that on your site, but what are the differences between the two models
Response Different features

Me  I see your have an internet package for 599 baht per month
Response Have package include TV for only 799 baht per month
Me But on your website you show one for only 599 baht per month
Response Have another include movies and TV for only 999 baht per month
Me Yes but I don't need movies or TV only internet
Response Which one you want the TV or Movie and TV Package.

Yes , some of these conversations can be amusing :

GF : My daughter going camping doctor next week

Me: Camping or see doctor ?

GF: Camp Doctor

Me: ( ignoring the chance for a funny reply ) Nope, sorry, not getting it .

GF: Thammasat University

Me: ah okay, Doctor Camp !!

GF: That’s what I say !!

Me: Of course you did .

Although I have to admit, her English is sketchy at best but beats my Thai hands down .

These are obviously not conversations conducted in Thai or there would not be this lack of communication.

Noise

I translate to Thai or have my girlfriend who is Thai speak directly to them.  Same thing.  Although you are right, Thai's will take 10 minutes to respond to something that only requires a yes or no.
