Updates and events in the War in Ukraine 2025
Putin's poodle strikes again. Note how he refers to Putin and Orban by their first names but never refers to Zelenskyy that way. After Russia bombed an American factory in Ukraine what is Trump's response? He brags about a photo his love Putin sent him of the soiree in Alaska at a FIFA meeting in the oval office. Bizarre. -

Crime CIB Arrests Chef Over Fake Accounts and Drug Links
Picture courtesy of Naewna. Bangkok police have arrested a 25-year-old assistant chef at an Italian restaurant in Sukhumvit, suspected of involvement in fraudulent bank accounts and illegal drugs after evading authorities for more than three years. The suspect, identified as Apichart, was detained on 21 August by officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division of The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), who had been tracking him under a warrant issued by Phuket Provincial Court on 8 December 2022. Apichart allegedly provided false personal information and set up bank accounts that were later misused, causing potential financial harm to the public. Authorities located him working at a restaurant in Soi Sukhumvit 33, where he was reportedly serving as an assistant chef. He was apprehended on the restaurant’s third floor. During initial questioning, the suspect denied wrongdoing, claiming he had merely opened bank accounts for friends and was unaware they were being used for criminal purposes, including drug trafficking. Apichart has been handed over to Phuket police for further investigation and prosecution, while authorities continue to pursue others potentially involved in the case. Report Thai Youth Hooked on Vapes: Rights Body Demands Crackdown
Outlaw tobacco. But the parliamentarians can't do that, can they? Outlawing vaping thins the competition that the tobacco monopolies enjoy and cuts into the revenues and profits of those tobacco monopolies. "It's to SAVE THE CHILDREN!" Bravo Sierra and bovine excrement. 🐂💩 It's to protect monopolies. "No no no - Outlaw vaping to SAVE THE CHILDREN!!!" Then freaking outlaw tobacco and all tobacco products as nicotine is highly addictive and tobacco products kills those who use them. "Cigarettes are legal!!! They law says they are good for you!!!" ✋Cigarettes contribute to the deaths of over 8 million people annually, and that's probably a low-ball statistic. OUTLAW TOBACCO AND ALL TOBACCO PRODUCTS!!! SAVE THE CHILDREN AND ALL OF THE REST OF THE NICOTINE ADDICTS!!! WHO: https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/tobacco CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_statistics/fact_sheets/fast_facts/index.htm NIH: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10453366/ Pan American Health Organization: https://www.paho.org/en/topics/tobacco Plus tobacco stinks as bad as 🐂💩 -

Travel 5 Ways to avoid losing your money in Thailand
Cheating starts on arrivals at Bangkok Airport with the regular taxis. Better off to take the train downtown - cheaper and much faster. Then cheating continues in most restaurants in touristy areas of Bangkok who are displaying ripoff prices per dish. Even when one feels it's cheap, then it may be that the portions will be very small on the plate. No need to mention the "massage" parlours, bar girls or freelancers who will all try their best to scam the foreigner. And many are foolish and pay the inflated rates. No comment of course for the tuk tuks. And the top on the list would be any contractor one may need to call for repairs or maintenance if one owns property. A majority of these people are the number 1 cheats. They cheat you either on the rate or better, on the low grade materials they will use. With these fellows, start to haggle with the price reduced at least by 50% and offer to supply your own materials, starting from basic cement. Watch them also as they tend to steal all the left over material and thus will use the minimum of the products while doing your job. I would more trust a bar girl then a building contractor in Thailand. -

Report Bangkok Rolls Out 191 Emergency Location Service
Picture courtesy of Facebook/AIS Bangkok's police team up with AIS and Google to roll out the 191 Emergency Location Service (191 ELS) across Thailand—ushering in a new era of safety with pinpoint accuracy Bangkok’s Metropolitan Police Bureau has collaborated with AIS and Google to launch a novel emergency system aimed at improving safety standards in the country. The 191 Emergency Location Service (191 ELS) is now operational, ensuring that help reaches you no matter where you are. By automatically sending a caller’s location to emergency responders, this innovation promises speedier and more efficient interventions. Currently, this service is accessible exclusively on Android devices running on the AIS mobile network. The benefits are clear—no need for additional apps or fees. When every minute counts, the ability to locate someone instantly could be crucial. Even if a caller can't speak, the system will transmit their location to the emergency centre, potentially saving countless lives, according to the Bangkok Post. The initial rollout covers Bangkok, with plans to extend the service nationwide. Targeting both local residents and foreign tourists on AIS's network is a significant step towards tighter security and peace of mind. By inviting other operators to join at no cost, AIS seeks a unified approach to enhance emergency response efficiency. As the 191 ELS gains traction, the project exemplifies how technology can play a pivotal role in public safety. It supports government efforts to protect citizens and sets a precedent for innovative solutions elsewhere. With these measures, Thailand positions itself as a leader in leveraging technology to bolster community safety. Adapted by ASEAN Now from Bangkok Post 2025-08-23
