I amazingly was able to turn off the wifi......That is after I screwed up the user name and password a got locked out for a while..... Then I went to WLAN 5G and 2.4G checked the boxes and that was it....It will be very easy the 2nd time...... Thanks everyone for helping... I think you'd find it easier to pull the plug out rather than having to go to a computer, fire up a browser, connect to the router remembering the password, find the appropriate page and turn off the wifi - bearing in mind that in the morning you have to go to an ethernet connected computer and turn the wifi on again in the morning. I could be wrong though.

I believe the OP doesn't have a use for WiFi at all, just wanted it turned off so he could sleep at night ...maybe the WiFi indicator light kept him awake ...maybe the WiFi caused his tin foil hat to glow purple ...maybe, as he didn't need WiFi, he didn't want to pay for the electricity it drew ...maybe he's abandoned this thread and we'll never know if you were right and he is wrong //the WiFi will probably turn itself back on anyway, you can't trust these things. And even if all the above were true, it is still easier to remove a plug and replace it later than faffing around with router and switching things on and off. Moving the bed is probably the simplest...

Why not capture them? So, why shouldn't I use my neighbor's WiFi for free now? Except we have mr redwood here who isn't feeling very neighborly. That's OK, if I go up on one of the nearby hills I can pick up and use outdoor WiFi signals 40Km away pretty easily using an old Ku band dish as a reflector. Switching off electrical items that are not in use makes complete sense to me and it can also be regarded as a sensible safety precaution against fire. tifino
just for the general purposes of the exercise; if one and all didn't have any clue the URL for their own default gateway, here blow displays the myriad of the respective default URLs for many Manufacturers https://www.techspot.com/guides/287-default-router-ip-addresses/ for example in my case at home, we have the less common 10.0.0.

The follow on posts are only us trying to punk the OP for wanting to disable WiFi so he can sleep better (ie: not have that access vector open when he doesn't even use it, reason), but we're punking him for the tin foil hat reason. Please do try and keep up. Very good reply. Equally as helpful as mine I'd say except yours does not actually address his problem at all, such as offering login information like mine did. I'm not sure where you're going with this post. The OP had already successfully logged into his router and disabled the WiFi in the firmware settings prior to you posting. Crossy pointed out that the login credentials were printed on a sticker of a photo the OP posted prior.
Daffy D
Perhaps the OP doesn't want the authorities knocking on his door one day accursing him of downloading Kiddy Porn because one of his neighbor's has been freeloading on his WiFi. As the OP doesn't use WiFi himself the easiest option is just to turn it off, I don't see a problem with that.
