It was widely reported across various outlets that these threats were made, and they were never denied by the EU. Do you think Boris added these clauses and took all the flak from the media and the anti-UK lobby for no reason? He just thought it would be a bit of a laugh to threaten to break international law? And it's pure coincidence that now there's clarification of what is 'at risk' he's removed them? I guess you only see what you want to see.

Deny it all you like, the EU got owned on this one. Great job by Boris.

So he came up with this spiffing idea to break international law....took a load of flack from all and sundry, pißßed off the USA no end and then.......... backed down and cancelled it all.....pure genius.

Want to hear a real cracker?

The act of union specifically states that ALL parts of the UK should be subject to the same trade tariffs and taxes.

Northern Ireland will no longer be part of that arrangement.

Johnson just tore up the act of union ????

Not exactly.

The EU got excited and pulled out a knife without thinking. Boris pulled out a sub-machine gun. The EU bottled it and offered to put the knife back in the pocket if Boris forgot the whole thing ever happened. Boris agreed, swaggered back into the saloon, pulled up a seat next to some hot chick and sparked up a Cuban cigar.

Yep. British and EU politicians crawling out the woodwork now as if they've been heavily involved all along and just knew this would happen.

What a "clever" little lot they are!

Not my words. Its from section 6 of the Act of Union 1707. Now unless Johnson capitulates and agrees to all the EU's demands then the above will no longer be the case because of the border down the Irish sea.

Ergo Johnson just tore up the act of union ????

Gawd, I wonder what you will come up with next, probably something to do with Oliver Cromwell....????

You should be concentrating on your squeaky clean SNP leader getting caught out telling porkies by her husband..????

half of britons want a proper no deal not some half assed EU servitude that we have no say in

Sure, then try something similar with the USA and other big countries and look how far you get.

But be careful with your expectations. Otherwise you might be disappointed.

Thought that would be obvious, try telling that to your leader......

Definitely grounds for Sturgeon's resignation if proved. Although we know the shameless nature of the SNP when caught out, just like the member with COVID who got the train back to Scotland alongside members of the public.

There is over 300,000 allotments in the Uk Around 87 per cent of UK households have a garden and estimates suggest that private gardens cover an area about the size of one-fifth of Wales. so plenty of opportunity to grow their own...

Isnt the idea to enforce the rules from the sea, rather than the land border ?

EU don't want a deal really, not yet anyway. UK is only asking for a basic trade arrangement as with Canada vs EU/  Canada vs USA.

You really know the consequences of the CETA deal,  bye the way, which is still not signed by all EU Members ? EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) - Trade - European Commission (europa.eu)

And given the level of trade between the two parties did you ever think that was possible?

You think the EU is going to give while allowing the UK to undercut their own manufacturers?

Dream on. Was never going to happen. You should have known that.

CETA does NOT mean full access to the EU market. The Canada-EU trade deal is no model for Brexit - CapX

Throw out these English. Schengen visa  + int'l driving licence ans insurances when they want to cross to EU.

Just as the English want to be boss in their own country, the EU wants the same. When somebody wants to do business inside the EU, it is on EU laws, and under EU courts.Simple an anti-dumping tariff on British goods.

Hopefully the EU does the same with all €uro-transactions. End of the financial City of London.

And your fish... put it where you want.

Now, now, no need for tantrums, anyone would think you were from Romania given a few minutes to negotiate...????

I guess this could be viewed two ways.... The UK are edging towards a deal and are starting play ball/make concessions......or.......they know they are not going to do a deal in which case make a load of concessions, make themselves look good (oh we tried so hard) and then walk away blaming the EU.

Well you would look at it that way, goes without saying....????

Plus, if a deal is done, you will be the first to spout..."That taught the Brits a lesson", when in fact, you don't know the UK's actual goal of an acceptable deal that's best for everyone .........

At least the remaining EU members now know what they are dealing with if they want to leave the EU, thankfully most do not have something the French want...

No mention of growing food post January that statement only exists in your head

You should know that people have been growing food in their back gardens and allotments for years

Oh how I wish that the rest of your grasping and vindictive compatriots would agree to your proposals. Unfortunately they still want us, our money and our fish. I'm afraid you won't be getting all of that.

You can make up all the rules you like about business in the EU, but they're all on your side of the border. Most of us don't have that much to export to the EU, so no worries. You get absolutely no say about anything that goes on within the UK though, which is what really gets up the noses of your EU masters and is the cause of the current impasse.

No sure why you usually raise the schengen visa and international driving licence as your major penalties though. They are just not that important. Is it something you had a brush with the law in UK?

I suggest you take up a job as a standup comedian, and it is not that we don't believe you, but I'm still waiting for that link for that other claim you made.

Since you said it was widely reported, I'm sure it should be easy to just fish up 1 single link.

Fifteenth-odd years of rationing. Now there's something to look forward to. Good of you to dole out the hardships so liberally to us home-based Brits from your home 6000 miles away.
