The acute embarrassment that will soon come with the realization that they have been led by the nose by the crook in chief should be a sight to behold when they have to justify the stance they took.

It's not just about fearing Trump's revenge, although that is certainly a factor.  The Republican Party is all on board with minority rule, which is their only hope for power, since Americans support progressive policies by a large margin.  That means that they have to support voter suppression, propagandistic news sources, gerrymandering, voter id, purging of voter rolls, lifestyle issues like gay marriage and abortion, and court challenges.  Otherwise the Republican Party is out of business.

The business model for the Republican party is collect huge money from the billionaire class, spend it on sophisticated advertising to lure the voters to vote against their own interests, and, when in power, lower taxes on the rich and reduce regulation on their businesses.  The tricky part is getting a presidential candidate who can induce the voters to vote against their own interests.  The spectacular successes were Eisenhower and Reagan.  McCain couldn't manage it; neither could Romney.  Of the 2016 line of Republican wannabes no one, but Trump, could have beaten Hillary.  So, Trump has been a critical element in the successful Republican drive to exercise minority rule.

You are correct that people vote.  However the statistic is still valid.  You have the fewest counties and the most votes.  Those are contradictory statistics.  People live in counties and Biden won the fewest yet somehow garnered the most votes.  Not impossible but it would mean Biden won overwhelmingly in those counties.  As stated 47% of people have doubts and there is no problem in alleviating their concerns not just now but for the future as people need to have confidence in the voting process.

did you took the time to analyze the 2016 voting demographics and why (with 3 million people votes less then Clinton) Trump win in 2016, how much or how many were pushed forward by team  Vlad..... it's worth a check, go ahead

No, the statistics do not belie credulity. It might if every county was the same size, but obviously they are not.

Counties with lots of voters went largely for Biden. Small counties with few voters went largely for 45.  The large counties margins dwarfed the total of the small counties 45 won.

This bears repeating, because it seems to not sink in to many people's heads:  PEOPLE vote, land does not vote.

Why don't you look at every single county in the US and see the results in each. It might ease your mind. Biden won. Bigly. Fairly.

At 12:01 on 20 January 2021, Joe Biden becomes your President Joe Biden.

How elections are run is for each state to decide. Texas has no rights to tell any state how they run their elections.

This is not a federal issue. Scotus will deny their application yo be heard.

Except the court hasn't dismissed it, and responses are due Thursday to the filing.  It will be a quite interesting read.

When will he be 78 years old? After calling Biden a crumbling old man, not to mention what his health will be like in 2024 due of his diet mainly consisting of Diet Coke and hamburgers!

How sad if a great country like the USA has nothing better to offer its people as president in 2024.

Hasn't dismissed it...yet.  An interesting read?  Hardly.  More like a waste of time.  And taxpayers money.

Actually, Paxton's comedic masterpiece is already accessible by  the general public. Critiques probably won't be nearly as funny.

It's beginning to look like Trump will have to issue a Presidential Pardon to the entire Republican Party for sedition before he leaves office Jan. 20th.

The Republican hypocrisy towards democracy just never ends in favor of authoritarian regimes.

Trump et al railed against Venezuela Madero who won the popular vote for a second term as illegitimate because they believed the election was fraudulent lacking specific proof. And instead endorsed president of the congressional House Guido as president even though he was not even a candidate in the presidential election.

And they call Maduro's government an autocracy?

In another universe, Trump beat Biden. Millions of Americans live there.

"....just 18 percent of frequent Fox News viewers believe that Biden defeated Trump, according to a Daily Kos/Civiqs poll released Wednesday, compared with 63 percent who think the opposite. Among people who say they watch Fox “occasionally,” 43 percent say Trump lost to Biden, while 44 percent say he did not. For those who responded that they do not watch Fox News, 70 percent say Biden won the election, while 24 percent say he did not."

Sad, scary and pathetic.

It hasnt dismissed it because others have requested to join. When they provide that information it will then be dismissed.

There will be nothing interesting to read. Its simply texas asking the court to allow them to determine how other states should conduct elections.

One reason before getting into a political discussion with someone, I ask what's their source for news.  If it's Fox, I'll avoid them like the plague.  They just don't get it.

Anybody with the most rudimentary knowledge of the history and doctrine of Federslism knows that the more conservative a judge is the more likely they are to uphold individual states to set their own standards. The notion that the very right wing Sjpreme Court would recognize that Texas would even have standing much less entertain its absurd arguments is laughable.

I have thought all along that the Trumpiest move would be for him to pardon the entire Trump administration which would number about 4000 persons of any federal crime they have ever committed according to the might-as-well-be-hanged-for-a-sheep-as-for-a-lamb principle.

Virtually everybody who voted for Trump supports these lawsuits? Evidence?

That would be the minority, right, that's why he lost the election! 50 lost law suits not enough evidence for you? He's making himself and all who voted for him look like absolute fools! Stand by for heartache Proud Boys!

The lawsuit isn't really about anything.  As said in the OP, it's a mess.  It's Trump pandering to his base so he can get more donations from his cult members.

Have you donated yet?

This lawsuit campaign will keep the followers in Georgia engaged long enough to go out and vote for 2 Senate seats on January 5th, plus it is raising millions to contest those elections, perhaps????

Or, hopefully, get enough cult members to believe it's rigged, and they won't vote!  I'd love that.

This article lays it out quite well.  Republicans are doing this to curry favor with Trump and the other crazed members of the GOP.

Politics at it's worst.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/09/us/politics/trump-texas-supreme-court-lawsuit.html

Mr. Cruz is only the latest possible Republican presidential candidate in 2024 to express support for Mr. Trump’s baseless allegations that the results of the election are tainted and fraudulent — a claim that the president’s lawyers have been unable yet to demonstrate in court.

Another Republican senator with presidential ambition, Josh Hawley of Missouri, praised the attorney general of his state on Wednesday, Eric Schmitt, after Mr. Schmitt declared on Twitter that “Missouri is in the fight” for Mr. Trump.

Republicans familiar with the dynamics in these states — all of which Mr. Trump won — described calculations of ambition and political survival that many party officials are making as they choose to stand behind Mr. Trump.

The texas Ag who started this silly attempt to not only violate States Rights but also subvert democracy like the now-typical repubs [deleted], is likely trying to elicit a pardon from 45, since the texas AG is on trial for a host of felonies, many of which are Federal crimes.

The other State AGs joinging the charade probably have higher political ambitions and are angling for a nod from 45 and demonstrate their fealty to him so that other members of the cult can see.

Obviously the silly filing has absolutely nothing to do with justice, law and order, freedom, democracy or anything associated with the United States.

Yes, the chap from Texas is apparently facing a number of felony charges which may (I read) if he is convicted, amount to up to 99 years in prison.

A pardon would help!

The rest perhaps, impressed by the money which Trump is raising, and talk of a bid in 2024, are perhaps falling in behind Mr Trump, expecting that they will in due course be rewarded! Relying on Mr Trump's political and moral integrity - silly beggars!

Do they not relise that people are homeless, needing health care, and hospitals are overflowing with the diseased and dying?

The donations would be better spent on compassionate needs than vanity of a moron, who has lost touch with reality.

Do they not understand his gross incompetence and inability to lead has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and millions to be unwell and possibly to  with long term physical effects of disease?

Where Trump’s recount fundraising dollars are really going

Much of the money raised by Stepien and the Trump campaign won’t go towards challenging election results, however, but to help set the stage for the president’s next act. The Trump campaign has a recount fund, but the money won’t go to it unless someone gives more than $8,333. Rather, 60 percent of a donation up to that amount for Trump’s “Official Election Defense Fund” is routed to a new PAC started this week by the president that can pay for a wide range of activities — but is likely legally barred from spending on recounts, lawyers say. The remaining 40 percent goes to the Republican National Committee, which is allowed — but not required to — spend on the recount. Prior to Tuesday, the majority of a donation went to helping Trump’s campaign cover its debt.

No that is not how it works, or Hilary would have 45 instead of the current incumbent.
