Validity of a visa

The validity of a visa is 3 months (single entry) or 6 months (multiple entries).

4. Period of stay

Upon arrival, travelers with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 60 days.

5. Extension of stay

Those who wish to extend their visa must file an application for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (please visit http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer."

If i get a single entry visa, i will get 60 day when i enter, then an extension of 60 days. Can you keep on extending the visa indefinitely?

A Tourist Visa entry can only be extended based on Tourism a single time for a further 30 days.

The currently available 60 days covid extension, which can be applied for multiple times, has only been confirmed until end of January, what will happen then has to be seen.

If they don't extend it the only options would be:

- 30 day extension for tourist purposes (can be applied for only once per entry)

- 60 day extension if you are married to a Thai or have Thai children (can be applied for only once per entry)

- Conversion to a non-immigrant visa followed by a long term extension, of course only possible if you fulfil the requirements for one of them

It seems i can get a 6 month visa, but have to leave every 60 days. Can i go to the border and or immigration and they just stamp it?

At immigration  (in Thailand) you could get a single 30 day extension to your entry.

If borders are open, a border run would get you another 60 day entry, providing the multiple Visa is still valid.

At this time the Multiple Entry Tourist visas are not being issued by embassies and consulates.

Only a single entry tourist visa is available.

There is now the special tourist visa (STV) being offered that allows a 90 day entry that can be extended twice for 90 days for a total stay of about 9 months.
